  • Patent number: 11067004
Abstract: A fluid system for a gas turbine engine includes a first supply line, a hydraulic accessory actuable by a fluid, and a second supply line fluidly connected the hydraulic accessory and to the first supply line upstream of the component. An accumulator is fluidly connected to the second supply line upstream of the hydraulic accessory. The accumulator is operable to fill a reservoir with the fluid from the first supply line via the second supply line, and to deliver the fluid to the hydraulic accessory via the second supply line. The first supply line may be a fuel or lubricant main supply line of the engine. A method of actuating a hydraulic accessory is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10865711
Abstract: An air inlet system for an auxiliary power unit (APU) has an intake duct having a wall defining an inlet plenum and forming an inlet opening configured to direct air into the inlet plenum. The system further comprising a load compressor passage in fluid communication with the inlet plenum and leading to a load compressor of the APU; and a core compressor passage in fluid communication with the inlet plenum and leading to a core compressor of the APU. A deflector is provided in the inlet plenum between the inlet opening and the core compressor inlet to deflect at least part of particles carried by an incoming airflow away from the core compressor inlet toward the load compressor inlet.

  • Patent number: 4720235
Abstract: A jet flap construction for the compressor of an aircraft gas turbine engine provided with a bleed for bleeding air interstage of the compressor and communicating with the hollowed-out struts in the airflow path to the compressor. The hollow struts are each provided with one or more rows of discrete openings extending from the shroud to the hub on the strut to form an aligned series of jets for discharging the pressurized bleed air and forming a jet flap, thereby providing pre-swirl at the compressor inlet.
