  • Publication number: 20150143082
Abstract: A fault-tolerant computer system architecture includes two types of operating domains: a conventional first domain (DID) that processes data and instructions, and a novel second domain which includes mentor processors for mentoring the DID according to “meta information” which includes but is not limited to data, algorithms and protective rule sets. The term “mentoring” (as defined herein below) refers to, among other things, applying and using meta information to enforce rule sets and/or dynamically erecting abstractions and virtualizations by which resources in the DID are shuffled around for, inter alia, efficiency and fault correction. Meta Mentor processors create systems and sub-systems by means of fault tolerant mentor switches that route signals to and from hardware and software entities. The systems and sub-systems created are distinct sub-architectures and unique configurations that may be operated as separately or concurrently as defined by the executing processes.

  • Patent number: 8979787
Abstract: This invention uses “targeted apheresis” to treat pregnant women who are at risk of developing eclampsia. “Targeted Apheresis” is a process whereby certain growth factor receptors (sFlt-1) circulating in the blood of a pregnant woman at risk of developing pre-eclampsia are selectively removed by passing the blood through a cartridge containing immobilized anti-sFlt-1 aptamers. The circulating sFlt-1 is bound out by the immobilized anti-sFlt-1 aptamers and the cleaned blood is returned to the patient. Removal of circulating sFlt-1 will diminish the risk of developing eclampsia during pregnancy.

  • Patent number: 8960496
Abstract: The present invention is concerned with a basket processing apparatus that includes a basket storage portion in a form of a horizontal load rail (2). A plurality of slide storage baskets (4) can be located in series on the rail (2). Each basket is “side loading” and the side loading aperture of each basket can be selectively covered by a slide retaining bar (6). When the baskets (4) are placed on the load rail (2) (e.g. by hooking or clipping the baskets onto the rail), the basket can be moved along the horizontal rail by a basket moving means. The arrangement of the rail and the basket moving means is such that the baskets can be pushed together and move as a “train”. Baskets moved to the pick-up end (12) of the rail can then be removed from the rail and processed. A vertical lift mechanism can be used to remove the basket and transport it to a processing device, for example a coverslipper.

  • Publication number: 20140232870
Abstract: A vehicle display system and methods of controlling the same. In certain embodiments, an image processing module receives video signals from a video camera and generates first video data in a first format. A system management mode (SMM) program is stored in a memory. When executed at a processor, the SMM program reads the first video data from a first area of the memory, converts the first video data to second video data in a second format, and writes the second video data to a second area of the memory. A PCI express switch forwards the first video data in the first format to a memory controller for storing in the first area of the memory, and forwards the second video data in the second format from the second area of the memory to the graphic controller.
