    Abstract: A quick disconnect assembly including a tubular housing. The housing includes a cam pin secured to the housing and a nut positioned within the housing cannulation. The nut has a first threaded channel adapted to engage a threaded shaft, a second, non-threaded channel extending at an angle to the first channel, and an arcuate groove formed on an outer surface of the nut. When the cam pin of the housing engages the groove at about a distal end of the nut, the nut is positioned in a loading position where the second channel extends approximately parallel to the longitudinal axis of the housing. When the cam pin engages the groove at about a proximal end of the nut, the nut is positioned in a locking position where the first channel extends approximately parallel to the longitudinal axis of the housing.

Donor bone is then placed in position between the upper and the lower parts of a matched cutting set comprising a hollow cylindrical cutting blade, a mandrel, and a table which establishes a gap around the mandrel which guides the blade. After the bone to be shaped has been properly placed, a shaped cutting blade is driven through the donor bone, producing a precisely shaped allograft implant. The invention provides for rapid change out of blades, rapid cleaning, and easy maintenance.

One instrument is a vertebral spreader that is able to create anterior lift to a fixed or variable angle. Another instrument is a tome for cutting rectangular grooves in bone and preparing end plate surfaces. A method contemplates the use of these instruments to prepare a disk space and the insertion of the implant.

    Abstract: A wire probe unit having stabilizer with a clamp and a mating cap for locking and precisely positioning a memory probe wire relative to a needle cannula having a hub with a socket at one end and a beveled point at the other end. The clamp has a guide post extending from one end thereof and a set of clamping fingers extending from an opposite end thereof. The guide post is configured to be received within the socket of the hub and the fingers are configured to captively hold the probe wire which is fed through a central bore in the stabilizer and needle cannula. The clamping fingers have tapered ends which fit into a fustro conical socket formed internally of the cap. When the stabilizer is in a retracted position, the probe wire is sheathed in the cannula needle and when the stabilizer is in its forward position, a J-shaped hook at the end of the probe wire extends outwardly from the tip of the needle a predetermined distance.
