  • Patent number: 5364952
Abstract: Novel vanadium(IV) oxide bis(dialkyldithiocarbamates) of the formula ##STR1## which R and R.sup.1 denote identical or different, branched or straight-chain, saturated or unsaturated alkyl radicals having 1-18 carbon atoms or cycloalkyl radicals having 4-7 carbon atoms, with the proviso that R.sup.1 is not identical to R when R is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, cyclobutyl or cyclohexyl, are prepared by a process comprising reacting 2 mols of an alkali metal dialkyldithiocarbamate of the formula ##STR2## in which R and R.sup.1 are as defined above and Me represents sodium, potassium or ammonium, with 1 mol of vanadium(IV) oxide sulfate pentahydrate in methanol or water as a solvent. The novel vanadium dithiocarbamates can be used as additives for permanent gear lubricating oils or hydraulic fluids to prolong the life of such oils.

  • Patent number: 5308519
Abstract: Novel tungsten hexa(dialkyldithiocarbamates) of the general formula I ##STR1## in which R and R.sup.1 can be identical or different, branched or straight-chain, saturated or unsaturated alkyl radicals having 1-18 carbon atoms are prepared by a process in which 6 mols of an alkali metal dialkyldithiocarbamate of the general formula II ##STR2## in which R and R.sup.1 are as signified above and Me can be sodium, potassium or ammonium, are reacted with 1 mol of tungsten hexachloride in a solvent which is inert with respect to the reaction. The alkali metal chloride or ammonium chloride formed is separated off and the tungsten hexa(dialkyldithiocarbamate) is isolated. The tungsten hexa(dialkyldithiocarbamates) of the invention can be used as additives for prolonging the life of hydraulic oils or permanent gear lubrication oils.

  • Patent number: 4960933
Abstract: Boron tris-(dialkyl-dithiocarbamate) of the general formula ##STR1## wherein R and R' represent the same or different branched-or straight-chain saturated or unsaturated alkyl radicals having from 1 to 16 carbon atoms and a process for preparing the same, comprising reacting 3 moles of an alkali dialkyl-dithiocarbamate of the general formula ##STR2## wherein R and R' are as defined in claim 1 and Me.sup.+ represents Na.sup.+, K.sup.+ or NH.sub.4.sup.+ with one mole boron tribromide, boron trichloride or boron trifluoride in an inert medium, separating the so-formed alkali metal or ammonium halide and isolating the boron tris-(dialkyl-dithiocarbamate). The new boron dithiocarbamates are suitable as additives for hydraulic oils or permanent gear lubricant oils.

  • Patent number: 4859787
Abstract: A direct method of preparing dialkyl-dithiocarbamates of multivalent metals by reacting the oxide of a multivalent metal with a secondary amine and carbon disulfide while simultaneously heating to 50.degree.-95.degree. C. and removing the so-formed water of the reaction.Suitable metal oxides are preferably lead oxide, zinc oxide, copper(II)oxide, iron(III)oxide, nickel(III)oxide, antimony(III)oxide and manganese dioxide. The reaction is preferably conducted in a solvent for the metal-dialkyl-dithiocarbamate which forms an azeotrope with water in order to remove the water of the reaction with the solvent.

  • Patent number: 3977952
Abstract: Carbon-containing compounds contained in a gas, such as polluted air or an industrial flue gas, or in a liquid, such as an aqueous solution or dispension, e.g. sewage liquid, contaminated drinking water or waste electroplating baths, are decomposed by being subjected to radiation of a wave length of about 20 to 600 nm in the presence of water and oxygen in excess of the stoichiometric amount required for complete oxidation. A catalytic quantity of hydrogen chloride may also be present. A suitable apparatus is also provided, comprising a chamber containing a source of radiation, a gas inlet and outlet, and means for spraying liquid into said chamber.
