The CSAs are incorporated into the dermal treatment compositions to provide effective antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-swelling and/or tissue-healing properties. A treatment composition includes a component formed from a biologically compatible material suitable for injection into and/or application onto tissue at a treatment site. One or more CSA compounds are mixed with the biologically compatible material so that the one or more CSA compounds are incorporated within the composition, forming a reservoir of CSA compounds within the resulting bolus of the treatment composition after injection and/or application.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to deodorizing compositions, ostomy devices, and uses thereof. In certain embodiments, the disclosure contemplates a deodorizer comprising a combination of citric acid and a citric acid salt, cocamidopropyl betaine, zinc ricinoleate, and optionally comprising a preservative such as a paraben. In certain embodiments, the deodorizing composition is contained loaded in a hydrogel or hydrophilic polyurethane. In further embodiments, the loaded hydrogel or hydrophilic polyurethane is placed in an ostomy device.

The combination can be extruded, calandarized, or molded to form the medical article, ensuring that the anti-microbial properties are not localized at the surface. The entire bulk of the article, including the surface thereof, is capable of having anti-microbial characteristics, allowing refreshening of the surface with time.
