  • Patent number: 7285747
Abstract: A speedy method of welding in a tight space using a single pass is provided using a technique which involves the use of a particularly shaped, flux treated consumable insert to provide deep weld penetration by a GTAW machine which is compact and fits the narrow spaces found in applications such as feeder tube repair since it does not require an insert wire flux feed system and is thus capable of negotiating narrow spaces found in feeder tubes.

Date of Patent: October 23, 2007
    Assignee: Atreva NP Inc.
Inventors: Ronald J. Payne, Stephen M. Lavesque
  • Patent number: 6358120
Abstract: An enhanced visibility underwater waterjet cutting system is provided wherein the waterjet cutting assembly and the video camera for remotely viewing the operating system is enclosed within an enclosure spacedly set against the workpiece and a stream of clean water is injected into the enclosure to set up a flow of clean water past the camera and to the waterjet cutting tip to exhaust the cuttings away from the enclosure and camera to allow a continuous view of the cutting surface of the workpiece without clouding up the water in the enclosure.

  • Patent number: 5889251
Abstract: A narrow groove welding apparatus including a torch assembly with a replaceable gas cup so that different length gas cups can be used for different depth grooves. An adjustable support assembly is provided to permit corresponding positioning of auxiliary components, including visual monitoring assemblies, wire feed assemblies, and illumination assemblies to ensure proper alignment of the auxiliary components with the weld zone. A torch assembly permits ready replacement of electrodes to match gas cups, and electrically isolates the electrode from the gas cup.

  • Patent number: 5810559
Abstract: A safety shroud of a nuclear reactor coolant pump. Capscrew heads, if broken, are prevented from separating from a nuclear reactor coolant pump having a drive shaft, an impeller secured to the drive shaft, a suction deflector secured to the impeller, and capscrews with outer heads securing the impeller and suction deflector to the drive shaft, by securing a safety shroud over the capscrew heads. The safety shroud may be secured by welding the safety shroud to the impeller or suction deflector, or by bolting the safety shroud to the distal end of the drive shaft.
