Patent number: 5527221Abstract: An amusement car ride system having multiple axis rotation of the car with decentralized control processing and centralized system monitoring allows significant improvement in ride control and flexibility. The seat portion 28 of the car is attached to a dolly 14 through an articulating structure providing rotation about a vertical axis and a horizontal axis. Drive motors 56, 60 connected to the articulating structure provide rotation about the axes and a programmable controller 64 connected to the drive motors provides power and position information. Sensors connected to the controller sense actual position of the drive motor, position of the car relative to the track at desired locations, and general elements of car status. A communication system integral with the controller communicates to a master controller in one or more cars for overall control of the system.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 1992Date of Patent: June 18, 1996Assignee: Ride & Show Engineering, Inc.Inventors: Ronald L. Patent number: 5299142Abstract: A method of determining the fullness of a compactor having a reciprocating ram and a container includes the steps of setting a target for the number of reciprocations of the ram required to fill the container to a preselected partial fullness. Each reciprocation of the ram is monitored and the total number is summed. The total number of reciprocations is compared to the target number, and the percentage fullness is calculated from those numbers. The percentage fullness is then displayed locally.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 1992Date of Patent: March 29, 1994Assignee: Marathon Equipment CompanyInventors: Ronald L. Brown, Rick J. Hemingway

Patent number: 4817520Abstract: An offset compactor assembly includes an elongated chamber having a waste receiving end portion and a waste discharge end. A ram is displaceable therein for causing compaction of waste during transfer therebetween. A first cylinder and piston assembly is operably connected to the ram for causing displacement thereof. A gate is positioned proximate said end and is movable into and out of said chamber for selectively restricting said chamber and thereby controlling the passage of waste therethrough. A second cylinder and piston assembly is operably connected to the gate for causing displacement thereof. An hydraulic control operably interconnects the first and second cylinder and piston assemblies for causing offsetting operation thereof so that the waste compacted in the chamber has a substantially uniform density.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 1987Date of Patent: April 4, 1989Assignee: Marathon CorporationInventors: Ronald L. Patent number: 4643087Abstract: A system for monitoring the fullness of a compactor waste receiving container utilizes the back pressure generated by the compacted waste for determining the fullness of the container. The compactor ram is stopped when in the forward compacting position and the pressure exerted by the waste on the ram is monitored for thereby determining the fullness of the container. The system further includes a timer for monitoring the time required for displacement of the ram. Should the ram fail to attain the waste compacted position within a pre-determined time period then the hydraulic system is shut down and an indicator is lit in order to show to the operator that the container is full.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 1986Date of Patent: February 17, 1987Assignee: Marathon CorporationInventors: Gordon H. Fenner, Ronald L. Brown
