Patent number: 9990266Abstract: Embodiments are directed to capturing data associated with an occurrence of an event via a battery-powered recorder, comprising: storing analog data in a delay circuit while a recording circuit is powered off, detecting, by a trigger circuit, the occurrence of the event while the recording circuit is powered off, powering-on the recording circuit based on the detection of the event, converting samples of analog data associated with the event provided by the delay circuit to a digital format while the recording circuit powers on, and storing the converted digital samples after the recording circuit has powered on, wherein a time delay associated with the delay circuit is greater than a time it takes for the recording circuit to power-on.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 2013Date of Patent: June 5, 2018Assignee: SIKORSKY AIRCRAFT CORPORATIONInventor: Ronald Moffatt

Publication number: 20070284949Abstract: A distance extender (100, 200) for increasing a distance between a first device (145) and a second device (150) in electrical communication with the first device includes an electrical cable (130, 230) electrically coupled between the first device and the second device, a first subsystem (110, 210) electrically coupled to the first end of the electrical cable, and a second subsystem (120, 220) electrically coupled to the second end of the electrical cable. The electrical cable includes a first end (131, 231), a second end (132, 232), and a plurality of wires extending between the first end and the second end. The plurality of wires includes a first wire, the first device generates a data signal and provides an electrical power signal, and the data signal and the electrical power signal are simultaneously transmitted between the first device and the second device over the first wire.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 25, 2007Publication date: December 13, 2007Applicants: Belkin International, IncInventors: Parker Voll, Randy King, Jack Priebe, Ronald Moffatt

Publication number: 20070267919Abstract: An electrical power conditioning apparatus in accordance with the present invention generally includes an electrical input for receiving power from the power source, a surge suppression circuit and a plurality of electrical outlets. A plurality of parallel channels connect the input to at least one of the plurality of outlets. At least one of the plurality of channels includes a filter circuit and a current sensor circuit for measuring the current through the channel. One or more displays are electrically connected to the current measuring to a visual indication of voltage and current measurements.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 7, 2007Publication date: November 22, 2007Applicant: Belkin International, Inc.Inventors: Scott Borden, Randy King, Ronald Moffatt

Publication number: 20070159757Abstract: Improvements to surge suppressors and other electronic devices with thermal cutoffs to reduce the risk of burning through the outer enclosure in the event electrical components such as current diverters or MOVs over heat. Improvements include barriers in between electrical components to prevent electrical contact between the components in the event of overheating of at least one component. Barriers or layers may be positioned between or around wires, conductors, thermal cutoffs, current diverters, or a combination thereof. Barriers may be fire-resistant, electrically insulating, or both, and may be made of fiberglass. Certain embodiments include revised layouts or orientations of components so that neighboring components or surfaces are at a closer electrical potential or so that exteriors of thermal cutoffs are on the protected side of the thermal cutoffs. Redundant thermal cutoffs or thermal cutoffs with non-metal or non-conducting bodies may be used and may be sandwiched between current diverters.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 6, 2006Publication date: July 12, 2007Applicant: Belkin CorporationInventor: Ronald Moffatt

Improvements include revised layouts or orientations of components so that neighboring components or surfaces are at a closer electrical potential or so that exteriors of thermal cutoffs are on the protected side of the thermal cutoffs. Redundant thermal cutoffs or thermal cutoffs with non-conducting exteriors may be used and thermal cutoffs may be sandwiched between current diverters in blocks so that the sides of the current diverters that are adjacent to the thermal cutoffs are normally at the same electrical potential as the thermal cutoffs.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 6, 2006Publication date: July 12, 2007Applicant: Belkin CorporationInventor: Ronald Moffatt
