  • Publication number: 20240115345
Abstract: A surgical microscope is configured to capture images of an eye of a patient and defines an optical axis. An illumination source is configured to emit a plurality of beams onto the eye of the patient at a plurality of angles relative to the optical axis. A controller is coupled to the surgical microscope and the illumination source, the controller configured to independently control values for illumination parameters for each beam of the plurality of beams to facilitate imaging of the eye of the patient. The illumination parameters may compensate for reflections from the iris, offset of the eye relative to the optical axis, and reflections of ambient light. The illumination parameters may be controlled subject to inputs received from a surgeon or other user.

  • Publication number: 20240109795
Abstract: A method of treating water in a water treatment system comprises introducing water to be treated into an ion exchange bed of the water treatment system to produce treated water, receiving an output water quality indication from a controller associated with the ion exchange bed, determining, by an algorithm, responsive to the output water quality indication, whether to replace the ion exchange bed based on a remaining capacity of the ion exchange bed, current operational parameters of the water treatment system, and historical data regarding operation of the water treatment system, and responsive to the water quality indication, providing, by the algorithm, a recommendation to a service provider of the water treatment system that there is one of no action required, that the ion exchange bed should be monitored, or that a service order for replacement of the ion exchange bed should be generated.

  • Patent number: 11803694
Abstract: Electronic documents may be large and have numerous pages, sections and areas of information that are useful to some individuals and not others. It is common for large documents to include some information that is intended for only certain recipients and other information that is intended for other recipients. One example may provide receiving a document including a number of pages, identifying a number of extraction attributes corresponding to various users identified in the document, querying the document for the extraction attributes, and creating a number of new documents corresponding to the extraction attributes.

It is common for large documents to include some information that is intended for only certain recipients and other information that is intended for other recipients. One example may provide receiving a document that has a number of pages, identifying an extraction attribute, querying the document for the extraction attribute, applying a coordinate to information associated with the extraction attribute, extracting information based on the extraction attribute and a predefined area associated with the at least one coordinate, and creating a new document including the information extracted.

  • Patent number: 10118429
Abstract: A book is provided which comprises front and back covers (12,14) and a plurality of pages (16) bound between the covers. A plurality of the pages (16) each have an aperture (18) and the resulting plurality of apertures cooperate with the back cover (14) to define a recess (22) extending through the pages. The book further comprises a container (24) attached to the back cover (14) so as to be located in the recess (22). The book may have multiple recesses and associated containers.

  • Publication number: 20060010060
Abstract: A financial advisory system is provided. According to one aspect of the present invention, return scenarios for optimized portfolio allocations are simulated interactively to facilitate financial product selection. Return scenarios for each asset class of a plurality of asset classes are generated based upon estimated future scenarios of one or more economic factors. A mapping from each financial product of an available set of financial products onto one or more asset classes of the plurality of asset classes is created by determining exposures of the available set of financial products to each asset class of the plurality of asset classes. In this way, the expected returns and correlations of a plurality of financial products are generated and used to produce optimized portfolios of financial products. Return scenarios are simulated for one or more portfolios including combinations of financial products from the available set of financial products based upon the mapping.

  • Patent number: 6598174
Abstract: A method and apparatus used in a storage network facilitates the protection of data in, and replacement of, storage devices about to fail before the failure happens. In a network that includes a set of storage devices organized as a non-redundant (for example RAID 0) array, a storage device about to fail in the non-redundant array can be replaced by another storage device, typically from a pool of spares. The method includes detecting a condition of a first particular storage device in the non-redundant array. Conditions which are detected according to various embodiments indicate that the first particular storage device is suffering events indicating that it is likely to fail, or otherwise suffering from reduced performance. The conditions are detected for example, by the receipt of a signal from the storage device itself, or by the monitoring of statistics concerning the performance of the storage device.

  • Patent number: 4117539
Abstract: The apparatus includes a scanning system for scanning a projected image of an axially symmetric component's profile in a plurality of lines of scan, each line of scan being transverse to the axis of symmetry of the components profile and having a predetermined spatial relationship with respect to a neighboring line of scan. The scanning system may include a linear or two dimensional array of image detectors and the system produces electrical signals representative of the extent of the image of the component's profile along each line of scan for processing by a computer which uses these signals to calculate at least one of the parameters of length, breadth and curvature of the axis of at least a portion of the component and determines whether the parameter lies within a predetermined range.
