  • Patent number: 4471565
Abstract: An articulated doll mounted on a ball which contains an internal eccentric weight appears to dance and play with the ball. The torso of the doll is pivotally connected to the outside surface of the doll and legs hingedly connected to the torso are biased in toward the ball surface. The doll's head is connected to the torso for limited rotational movement about an axis and the center of gravity of the doll's head is offset from the axis so that the head moves from side-to-side as the ball wobbles about on a playing surface. Arms flexibly connected at one end to the torso have hands at the other end that are connected to the ball by extending pins permitting pivotal movement of the doll with respect to the ball.

  • Patent number: 4467555
Abstract: A doll that may be actuated to simulate a swimming, walking or kicking action includes a torso with a pair of arms rotatably mounted thereto. A head mounting member is pivotally mounted to the upper portion of the torso and a leg mounting structure is secured to the lower portion of the torso. A pair of legs are pivotally mounted on the leg mounting structure in a manner to allow independent rotation. A compound cam is rotatably mounted in the torso and includes a helical groove in which a pair of cam followers are positioned that are in turn secured to each of the legs. A third cam follower is positioned within the torso to engage an eccentric cam that is part of the compound cam. The third cam follower is mechanically connected to the head mounting member resulting in pivoting of the head. A flotation device is arranged to be engageable by the doll's arms for use in the swimming mode.

  • Patent number: 4386479
Abstract: A walking doll is described having a pair of side by side legs which automatically pivot forwardly when lifted off the ground. The legs include movable, side by side buttocks. The doll may be connected to a stroller through a handle that oscillates from side to side as the stroller is forwarded. When the doll is connected to the handle the doll rocks from side to side causing one leg after another to be lifted from the ground. As a leg is lifted from the ground an eccentric weight within the leg causes the leg to step forwardly until the handle is rotated in the opposite direction at which time the leg again contacts the ground and the other leg is lifted off the ground. The handle is oscillated by a cam follower which follows a cam rotated by an axle of the stroller.

  • Patent number: 4356663
Abstract: An animated crying doll includes a hollow head, a hollow body connected at the neck and the head is formed with a face having a pair of eyes and a mouth defined therein. A liquid bladder is mounted in the head having a flexible wall and conduits in communication between the bladder and openings formed in the eyes for conducting liquid from the bladder to the surface of the eyes to resemble crying or tearing. Means is provided for forcing the liquid from the bladder through the conduits to the eyes and at least one arm of the doll is mounted for movement on the shoulder of the body for pivotal movement between a first position wherein the hand is adjacent the outer surface of the eye for wiping a tear therefrom and a second position downwardly thereof. Means is provided for manipulating the hand to rotate and a sound generator is mounted internally of the doll to produce a crying sound whenever liquid is forced from the bladder to the surface of the eye.

  • Patent number: 4312150
Abstract: A doll capable of raising itself in a natural realistic manner from a generally prone position on a supporting surface to either a sitting position or a standing position. The doll includes a pair of legs pivotally mounted on the doll's torso for movement about their respective axes in a timed sequence and a drive mechanism including a motor and a pair of cams which control the timed leg movements. In operation, the doll is placed in a prone face down position on a suitable supporting surface with its legs aligned with the torso in a generally horizontal position. Upon activation of the drive mechanism, one leg is pivoted downwardly approximately 150.degree. to a position generally alongside the torso and then remains in that position while the second leg is brought forward to a position in generally parallel alignment adjacent the opposite side of the torso. Continued energization of the drive mechanism causes the torso to pivot upwardly to a sitting position.

  • Patent number: 4305222
Abstract: A roller skating doll includes a pair of roller skates and an internal drive mechanism permitting the doll to skate in a realistic manner. The skates may be removably secured to a pair of legs movably mounted to a torso portion of the body. A pair of arms are operatively associated with the drive mechanism and similarly move in a realistic and natural cyclical path. The head is designed to pivot in accordance with the weight distribution of the body to maintain balance. The drive mechanism includes a plurality of specifically shaped cams to move the legs in a predetermined cyclical path. Each leg is pivoted generally outwardly at the end of its power stroke by a second cam drive mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4294033
Abstract: An animated talking doll includes a doll torso and head which includes a facial portion manufactured of generally flexible material. A sounding mechanism within the doll provides various audible sounds to be produced as desired by the user. A manually operative drive mechanism is connected to the mouth area of the facial portion of the doll head for automatically moving parts of the face in a timed relationship to provide coordinated movement of the parts of the face with the sound produced by the sounding mechanism. A clutch mechanism permits operation of the sounding mechanism while not engaging the driving mechanism to provide operation of the sounding mechanism independently of the movement of the facial portion.

  • Patent number: 4266367
Abstract: An articulated doll including an internal arrangement for allowing the doll to sit down from a standing position without the assistance of the doll user. With the doll in a standing position and the arms upright, the user rotates the arms to a down position and then releases the arms. After a predetermined time interval, the internal arrangement of the doll causes the doll to move from the standing position to a sitting position. When the doll is returned to a standing position, a control mechanism located on the doll torso is actuated to lock the legs of the doll to a standing position. The doll is also capable of being walked by the user holding the doll by the arms and alternately lifting one leg and then the other off the walking surface. The leg lifted from the walking surface pivots and the doll takes a step.

  • Patent number: 4183171
Abstract: A changeable doll or figure toy which simulates pregnancy includes a generally hollow torso portion having an aperture generally in the area of the abdominal cavity directly below the bottom of the breast line. A movable cam member is pivotally mounted within the torso in a position generally adjacent the aperture. The cam member includes a curvilinear surface which protrudes through the abdominal aperture simulating pregnancy in one position and is retractable to a normal state. A bi-stable biasing spring is mounted within the torso and will maintain the cam member in either its extended or normal position. A second aperture in the rear of the torso permits engagement of the cam member or biasing spring to move the cam member forwardly to its extended position and the cam member is returned to its normal position by a force applied to the front thereof.
