  • Patent number: 6964654
Abstract: A disposable cover for enclosing the outlet spout of a drainable stoma pouch. The cover includes front and rear walls sealed along side and bottom edges, with an unsealed upper edge. Preferably, one or more stiffening ribs extend longitudinally across the front and rear walls near the unsealed upper edge. The presence, spacing and relative orientation of such ribs on the external surfaces of the front and rear walls render the disposable cover self-opening such that it may be easily placed over to enclose the outlet spout of a drainable stoma pouch. Once positioned, the cover is clamped onto the tail section of the pouch to provide effective odor and moisture containment therein.

  • Patent number: 5271196
Abstract: A stabilizer-retention device for beach umbrellas which will substantially increase the total static retention forces and lateral stability of beach umbrellas thereby alleviating or preventing lifting forces caused by steady winds and/or gusts causing a beach umbrella to become dislodged from the sand in which it is supported or becoming tilted or upset thereby greatly facilitating use of beach umbrellas in a more stable, secure and safe manner. The device involves an attachment or modification of the supporting rod or standard that is normally inserted into the sand to increase the lateral stability and static retention of the umbrella. Various embodiments of the device are disclosed including a plate attached to the lower end of the supporting rod which may be circular, square or polygonal with various methods of attachment or an open-topped container embedded in the sand for receiving the beach umbrella rod or standard.

  • Patent number: 4569528
Abstract: A game device utilizing the old and well known concept of connecting adjacent dots of a matrix of dots by utilizing a connecting line formed by a player during his period of play. In this known type of game device, the matrix of dots is usually arranged periodically in a horizontal and vertical array with the purpose of the game being to complete more squares than an opponent. The present invention provides a tri-level gameboard with each level having a number of dots thereon with each level also including a predetermined number of fixed and optional "stops" that are distinguishable by color and/or configuration to prevent a player from capturing the enclosed shape, such as a square, triangle or the like having any side composed of a "stop" thereby introducing the use of skill and strategic planning by the players inasmuch as a player, by judicious use of the "stops" can decisively control the outcome of the game.

  • Patent number: 4225355
Abstract: Processes of forming amorphous boron-carbon alloy in bulk form without crystallization are disclosed. Such products can be produced in thicknesses well in excess of ten mils by employing Reynolds number gas reactant flow conditions of 40 to 120. The resultant products of such processes having grain sizes preferably less than 30 A are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 3984043
Abstract: A method for continuously manufacturing in air aluminum matrix composites reinforced with a plurality of parallel layers of unidirectional filaments comprising positioning a plurality of filament reinforced aluminum matrix monolayer tapes in a stack, placing the stack between platens heated to a predetermined temperature, pressing the stack between the platens at pressures of approximately 100-10,000 psi to reduce its thickness to cause densification, said temperature being lower than the liquidus temperature of the aluminum matrix but being sufficiently high, in combination with the pressure, to cause bonding of said matrix to said filaments and to contiguous portions of adjacent tapes and removing the densified composite from between the platens.
