  • Patent number: 8954111
Abstract: A wireless device has at least a first radio system for a first SIM channel and a second radio system for a second SIM channel. A processing system is arranged to determine whether a first of the first and second radio systems is capable of providing service for both of the first and second SIM channels currently being serviced by the first and second radio systems respectively. Servicing of the second SIM channel is transferred from the second radio system to the first radio system if it is determined that the first radio system is capable of providing service for both of first and second SIM channels. At least a part of the second radio system is shut down to reduce the power consumed by the second radio system after servicing of the second SIM channel has been transferred.

  • Patent number: 8397150
Abstract: A chunk of branch metric computation bits is generated including bits that correspond to transition bits of a possible chunk of transition bits that could have been generated by a state transition of a convolutional encoder of a transmitter. The bits of the chunk of branch metric computation bits are scrambled. A branch metric for the received chunk of soft scrambled code bits is calculated as a function of the scrambled bits of the chunk of branch metric computation bits and the soft scrambled code bits of the received chunk of soft scrambled code bits. The branch metric is indicative of the probability that the received chunk of soft scrambled code bits was originally generated by the convolutional encoder as the chunk of transition bits corresponding to the generated chunk of branch metric computation bits.

  • Publication number: 20100278287
Abstract: A Viterbi decoder for decoding convolution-coded data blocks has a memory region (314) used for the decision matrix. This memory region is too small to hold all of the decisions for one data block. Instead, the decision matrix is repopulated for different sections of the data block during the decoding process. When a list Viterbi algorithm is employed, the modified tracebacks can be limited to data block sections containing bad decisions and preceding sections.

  • Patent number: 5680467
Abstract: A hearing aid with digital, electronic compensation for acoustic feedback includes a microphone, a preamplifier, a digital compensation circuit and output amplifier and a transducer. The digital compensation circuit includes a noise generator for the insertion of noise, and an adjustable, digital filter for the adaptation of the feedback signal. The adaptation takes place using a correlation circuit which includes a digital circuit to carry out a statistical evaluation of the filter coefficients in the correlation circuit, and changes the feedback function in accordance with this evaluation.
