  • Publication number: 20190271469
Abstract: The present subject matter provides a combustion system which comprising: a cowl; a deflector configurated to include a ring body, a plurality of swirlers integrated on the ring body and a plurality of arms integrally extending outward from the ring body; an annular inner liner attached with the cowl; and an annular outer liner attached with the cowl. The deflector is positioned between the inner liner and the outer liner; the deflector, the inner liner and the outer line define a combustion chamber thereamong. The deflector is attached to the cowl via the plurality of arms, but the arms are rigid enough to work together to fix the deflector with the cowl while allowing for thermal expansion flexibility therebetween at the same time.

  • Patent number: 10405397
Abstract: An illumination device, system and method are provided herein for emulating sunlight along a daytime or nighttime locus. Sunlight is emulated depending on the path length of the sun relative to a structure containing the illumination device and system. One or more illumination devices can be grouped together and perform the sunlight emulation along the locus by producing different color temperatures throughout the day by all illumination devices within that group producing the same color temperature changes throughout the day. Moreover, a particular advantage of the preferred embodiments is the ability to manually change at any time the emulated natural sunlight output from the one or more groups of illumination devices and advantageously change the color output more so at certain times than at other times by simply actuating a trigger on a dimmer associated with a virtual or physical keypad.

  • Publication number: 20190259897
Abstract: Distributed Bragg reflectors are incorporated into the compositionally graded buffers of metamorphic solar cells, adding functionality to the buffer without adding cost. The reflection aids in collection in subcells that are optically thin due to low diffusion length, high bulk recombination, radiation hardness, partially-absorbing quantum structures, or simply for cost savings. Performance enhancements are demonstrated in GaAs subcells with QWs, which is beneficial when GaAs is not the ideal bandgap.

  • Publication number: 20190218545
Abstract: Presented herein are techniques for indexing of nucleic acid, e.g., for use in conjunction with sequencing. The techniques include generating indexed nucleic acid fragments from an individual sample, whereby the index sequence incorporated into each index site of the nucleic acid fragment is selected from a plurality of distinguishable of index sequences and such that the population of generated nucleic acid fragments represents each index sequence from the plurality. In this manner, the generated indexed nucleic acid fragments from a single sample are indexed with a diverse mix of index sequences that reduce misassignment due to index read errors associated with low sequence diversity.

  • Patent number: 10354692
Abstract: Techniques of playing back a looping video file involve providing multiple video codecs for decoding a video file. Each video codec performs its own decoding operation on the looping video file, resulting in multiple buffers of video frames and a buffer of audio frames. Then, as the GPU renders the ending video frames from a first buffer, it begins rendering the beginning video frames from a second buffer. In this way, the beginning of a next video cycle is already rendered for viewing by the time a current video cycle is ending.

  • Publication number: 20190212746
Abstract: The disclosure includes embodiments for a sensor system for multiple perspective sensor data sets. In some embodiments, a method executed by an ego vehicle includes receiving, from a set of remote vehicles, a set of sensor data describing a set of preliminary heatmaps for a roadway environment. The method includes reconciling discrepancies in the set of heatmaps and a preliminary heatmap of the ego vehicle to form a combined heatmap that describes the objects in the roadway environment as collectively observed by the onboard sensors of the set of remote vehicles and the ego vehicle. The method includes providing the combined heatmap to one or more of the remote vehicles included in the set of remote vehicles. The method includes modifying an operation of the ego vehicle based on the combined heatmap. For example, an operation of an autonomous driving system of the ego vehicle is modified.

  • Publication number: 20190204091
Abstract: A network system determines and remediates dissimilarities between a digital map and trace data of a road network in an area as service providers and service requesters coordinate service using the road network in the area. To determine dissimilarities the network system can select and convert a digital map, aggregate received trace data into trace data accurately representing the road network in the area, generate a visualization of the dissimilarities, and remediate the dissimilarities using a variety of methods. A first remediation method includes verifying the dissimilarity using a single service provider, a second method includes verifying the dissimilarity leveraging multiple service providers, and a third method modifies the methods used to determine dissimilarities. After remediation, the network system can generate a map of the area that accurately represents the road network in the area.

  • Publication number: 20190205969
Abstract: Systems and methods disclosed herein provide a geo-targeted online reservation system that ensures authenticity of customer devices requesting reservations by generating reservations only if threshold authentication conditions are satisfied. For example, a computing device registered with a server system receives inputs for requesting a reservation of a limited release product and for configuring the product. To authenticate the computing device, the server device transmits an electronic message to the computing device requesting the computing device to respond. A response to the message is one threshold authentication condition for generating the reservation. Upon determining that one or more threshold authentication conditions are satisfied, the server device generates a reservation for the product.

  • Patent number: 10329472
Abstract: Fluid additives suitable for use in a wellbore (e.g., a liquid comprising an aqueous miscible fluid, a liquid surfactant, or both) may be converted into a liquid-infiltrated porous silica that is a flowable bulk solid. The flowable bulk solid may then be handled and stored as a traditional solid wellbore additive. For example, the flowable bulk solid may be added to an aqueous fluid to produce a wellbore fluid that is then introduced into a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation.

  • Patent number: 10329029
Abstract: Falling drone warning apparatuses and methods are disclosed. The apparatus may be attached to a drone and may measure acceleration during the drone's operation in order to ascertain whether the drone is free falling. If the apparatus detects that the drone is free falling, the apparatus may activate an audible alarm to warn people on the ground of the potential danger and to afford them the opportunity to take action to avoid the drone's impact or minimize its effect.
