  • Patent number: 8391114
Abstract: An optical disk drive controls recording power with high accuracy in accordance with a measured ? value and a target ? value. A system controller of the optical disk drive determines a ? value at which jitter or an error rate becomes minimum, in both an inner radius and an outer radius of an optical disk, and determines a difference between the determined ? value and the target ? value for each of the inner and outer radii. A corrected value for an arbitrary position, arbitrary speed, and an arbitrary temperature is calculated from a difference achieved at the inner radius and a difference achieved at the outer radius, by means of linear interpolation. The measured ? value for the arbitrary position, the arbitrary speed, and the arbitrary temperature is compared with the target ? value after having been corrected, thereby controlling recording power.

  • Publication number: 20120105567
Abstract: A printer detects black marks BM formed at a constant interval along the length of recording paper by a detector disposed to the recording paper conveyance path at a position upstream from a printing position, positions the recording paper to a printing start position for printing on the recording paper based on the detection results from the detector, and positions the recording paper to a cutting position downstream from the printing position in order to cut the recording paper based on detection of a black mark BM after printing ends. When a power-off command is input, the printer starts conveying the recording paper forward, stops conveying the recording paper when a black mark BM is detected by the detector after conveyance starts, and then turns the power off.

  • Publication number: 20120002782
Abstract: When the diagnostic center position and a reconstruction FOV are designated using a tomographic image, a system control device controls a top plate of a table to move from side to side and up and down so that the designated diagnostic center position reaches the center position of scanning. A scanner is provided with a plurality of compensation filters configured to adjust X-ray irradiation distribution, and the system control device selects a proper compensation filter according to the designated reconstruction FOV from among the plurality of compensation filters, switching to the selected compensation filter. The compensation filters include at least a compensation filter (size L) of wide-width X-ray irradiation distribution and a compensation filter (size S) of narrow-width X-ray irradiation distribution in a scanner-turning direction. When the designated reconstruction FOV is a predetermined threshold or less, the compensation filter is switched to the S-sized compensation filter.

  • Patent number: 8068313
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to approaches to effectively let noise on a head slider bonded to a silicon substrate of a microactuator, escape to the ground. A head gimbal assembly (HGA) according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises a microactuator bonded to a gimbal tongue. The microactuator comprises a piezoelectric element and a movable part for moving in response to expansion or contraction of the piezoelectric element. The motion of the movable part causes a head slider to slightly move. The microactuator further comprises a conductive path including an impurity-containing silicon layer formed on the silicon substrate. The conductive path transmits electric charge of the head slider to a suspension. The conductivity of the impurity-containing silicon layer is lower than the one of the silicon substrate so that the noise charge of the head slider may escape to the suspension.

  • Patent number: 7739609
Abstract: A method for responding to inquiries from a user by a response support system. A request displaying a second screen is received from a user terminal of the user in which a first screen is being displayed. An inquiry destination of the response support system is identified in the first screen. Screen data pertaining to the second screen and containing an operation object is retrieved. The second screen is configured to be sent to the inquiry destination in response to an operation performed on the operation object by the user. Screen transition information containing screen identifiers of screens previously displayed by the user terminal, including the first screen, is retrieved. The second screen is assembled by inserting the retrieved screen data and the retrieved screen transition information into the second screen. The assembled second screen is sent to the user terminal.

  • Patent number: 6895331
Abstract: A navigation device is provided for easily designating a road to be avoided with high accuracy. When a location on a map is designated by a touch panel 7, an avoidance-road setting unit 22 identifies a road existing at or near the location designated, and specifies a link corresponding to the road. Then a map drawing unit 14 draws a map image in a reduced scale larger than that previously set. If another location on the map is designated, the process of specifying the link and the process of drawing the map image in the larger reduced scale, which are described above, are repeated. When there is provided an instruction to set the road specified based on the location as an avoidance road, the avoidance-road setting unit 22 stores a link ID of the link corresponding to the specified road in an avoidance-road memory 24.
