  • Publication number: 20230264315
Abstract: A grinding setting selection system for a robotic grinding system is presented. The system includes an abrasive rotational speed retriever that retrieves a current rotational speed of a grinder in the robotic grinding system. The system also includes an end effector load retriever that receives a current end effector load of an end effector in the robotic grinding system. The system also includes a material removal predictor that, based on the retrieved rotational speed and the end effector road, predicts a material removal rate. The system also includes a setting adjuster that, based on the predicted removal rate, provides a setting adjustment for the robotic grinding system. The setting adjustment alters a mechanical setting of the robotic grinding system. The system also includes a setting communicator that communicates the setting adjustment to the robotic grinding system.

  • Patent number: 11623286
Abstract: A tapered end mill includes an outer circumferential cutting edge, a flute is disposed such that a flute bottom radius defined as a distance between a flute bottom and the tool axis decreases from a shank side toward the tool tip side, the flute bottom radius linearly changes at a predetermined gradient angle in the tool axis direction, the gradient angle changes at a predetermined change point to become smaller on the tool tip side as compared to the shank side, and a gradient angle ?1 on the tool tip side relative to the change point is equal to or larger than 0° and smaller than a taper half angle ? of a cutting portion provided with the outer circumferential cutting edge, and a gradient angle ?2 on the shank side relative to the change point is larger than the taper half angle ?.

  • Patent number: 6997651
Abstract: An end mill including a cylindrical body having (a) flutes each formed in the cylindrical body and each extending from an axially distal end of the cylindrical body toward an axially proximal end of the cylindrical body, (b) peripheral cutting edges each provided by one of widthwise opposite edges of a corresponding one of the flutes, and (c) end cutting edges each located at the axially distal end of the cylindrical body and contiguous to a corresponding one of the peripheral cutting edges. The end cutting edges include first and second end cutting edges, while the peripheral cutting edges include first and second peripheral cutting edges which are contiguous to the first and second end cutting edges, respectively. A first axial rake angle of the first end cutting edge is smaller than a second axial rake angle of the second end cutting edge, while a first radial rake angle of the first peripheral cutting edge is larger than a second radial rake angle of the second peripheral cutting edge.
