  • Publication number: 20190269433
Abstract: A surgical cutting tool adapted to be rotatably driven by a motor. The surgical cutting tool includes an elongated shaft defining intermediate and coupling portions. A shape of the intermediate portion defines a primary central axis of the shaft. The coupling portion includes a tang having a tapered cylindrical shape that defines a drive axis. The drive axis is slanted with respect to the primary central axis. When coupled to the motor of a powered handpiece, the tang transmits an input or drive force from the motor to the intermediate portion as a torque about the primary central axis. In some embodiments, the drive axis extends through a centroid of first and second spaced apart cross-sectional planes of the tang, the first and second planes each being perpendicular to the primary central axis.

  • Publication number: 20180353674
Abstract: An irrigation system for a surgical instrument includes an irrigation tube arranged to convey an irrigation fluid and an irrigation clip structurally arranged to receive a portion of the irrigation tube. The irrigation clip includes a proximal portion, a distal portion, a body portion, and an arm portion. The arm portion is structurally configured to selectively attach the irrigation clip to the surgical instrument and to bias the irrigation clip toward the surgical instrument with a biasing force. The irrigation clip includes a tube locking portion structurally arranged to cooperate with the surgical instrument to engage the outer surface portion of the irrigation tube to inhibit rotation and axial displacement of the irrigation tube relative to the irrigation clip in response to the biasing force.

  • Patent number: 9603603
Abstract: A surgical cutting blade for cutting bone material when the blade is coupled to a hand-held surgical saw includes a distal portion comprising a plurality of cutting teeth, a shank portion adjacent the distal portion, and a proximal portion adjacent the shank portion. The proximal portion may include a longitudinally extending slot having a proximal opening. The slot may be shaped to receive a portion of the surgical saw through the proximal opening. The proximal portion may have a plurality of deflectable fingers respectively separated from a plurality of main body portions by respective gaps. • Patent number: 9566074
Abstract: A surgical system for cutting tissue of a patient includes an outer housing and a reciprocating assembly structurally configured to carry a cutting tool in a reciprocating motion. An actuator knob is manually accessible to the user and may be fixed axially to the outer housing. The reciprocating assembly may reciprocate relative to the actuator knob. The actuator knob may be configured for rotational movement between a lock position and an unlock position. The system may also include a locking mechanism configured to retain a cutting tool within the reciprocating assembly. The locking mechanism may be responsive to movement of the actuator knob to maintain the tool within the output shaft when the actuator knob is in the lock position and permit removal of the tool when the actuator knob is in the unlock position. Surgical cutting tools, such as blades include thickness enhancing features.
