    Abstract: A rechargeable battery that includes a case made of a laminate sheet; an electrode assembly installed in the case and an electrode terminal that protrudes outside the case and is connected to the electrode assembly. The case includes a receiving unit receiving the electrode assembly and including a first sealing part, and a cover covering the receiving unit and including a second sealing part that is thermally fused to the first sealing part. The first sealing part and the second sealing part include first protrusions and depressions and second protrusions and depressions respectively formed on a portion corresponding at least to the electrode terminal, and the electrode terminal includes third protrusions and depressions respectively corresponding to the first protrusions and depressions and the second protrusions and depressions.

    Abstract: An electrolyte for a rechargeable lithium battery includes a non-aqueous organic solvent; a lithium salt; and an additive including vinylene carbonate, fluoroethylene carbonate, and a nitrile-based compound represented by Formula 1: wherein n ranges from 1 to 12 and R1 and R2 are independently a halogen, a hydrogen, or an alkyl group. Further, the alkyl group can be CmH(2m+1), in which m ranges from 1 to 10. The electrolyte for a rechargeable lithium battery improves storage stability of the rechargeable lithium battery at a high temperature. And, a rechargeable lithium battery including the electrolyte has improved storage stability.

    Abstract: A rechargeable lithium battery is provided that includes a negative electrode including a negative active material, a positive electrode including a positive active material, and an electrolyte. The electrolyte includes a lithium salt and a non-aqueous organic solvent including from about 1 to about 20 volume % of a cyclic carbonate and from about 80 to about 99 volume % of a linear carbonate. The positive electrode has an active mass density of about 3.7g/cc or greater. The rechargeable lithium battery shows improved cycle-life and storage characteristics at high temperatures, and good high rate characteristics.
