Abstract: A system for accessing a write-once read-many storage medium is intended to modify and update a stored data on the medium according to an operator's desire and easily manage the modified data and the updated data on the storage medium. The system is arranged to have a first and second searching unit, a writing unit and a reading unit. The first searching unit operates to search a non-writing area next to a last data-written area on a data storage area of the storage medium and the writing unit operates to read the updated data on the searched area. The second searching unit operates to search a last data-written area on the storage medium and the reading unit operates to read the data from the searched area. For searching the area by the second searching unit, a binary search may be used.

Abstract: An information retrieval apparatus having a CPU which causes retrieval conditions entered through an input device to be stored in a memory together with titles entered through the input device. The CPU also calls titles of the retrieval conditions stored in the memory to cause a list of the titles to be displayed on a display unit, so that required titles can be selected from the title list for retrieval condition setting.

Abstract: Disclosed is an electronic information retrieval apparatus in the apparatus when a retrieval instruction is supplied to the electronic information retrieval apparatus, broad sort names are read from storage (8) and are displayed on a CRT display. Within the displayed sort names, a desired one is designated by a keyboard (1), so that detailed sort names corresponding to the designated sort name are read from the storage (8) and are displayed on the CRT display (2). When an object detailed sort name is displayed and selected by the keyboard (1), corresponding picture information is displayed on the CRT display (2). This allows the user to efficiently retrieve stored information.

Abstract: In an image information processing apparatus including a combined display and input unit, which includes a coordinate specifying unit for specifying on a screen a rectangular area containing an image and also specifiying the destination to which it is to be moved, a mode specifying unit for specifying a move mode for the rectangular area to be a paralleling mode or a rotating mode, and a position specifying unit for enabling the specification of the destination, an image paralleling and rotating system is disclosed, when the rectangular area specified by the coordinate specifying unit is displaying in the screen as moved to the destination, enabled by the position specifying unit, in accordance with instructions made by the mode specifying unit, a decision is made to determine if the coordinate specifying unit has specified a predetermined neighboring portion of a corner of the rectangular area so displayed.

Abstract: In an information registering and retrieving apparatus, primary information of image signals converted from an original document or documents is registered by adding secondary information to the primary information and any desired primary information is retrieved by utilizing the secondary information. The apparatus is provided with a first output reservation device for storing, in a storage device, desired secondary information designated in the entire secondary information retrieved on the basis of any given retrieval condition and for interrupting an output of the desired primary information corresponding to the designated secondary information on a display and by a printer. It is further provided with a second output reservation device for storing, in the storage device, desired primary information designated in the entire primary information corresponding to the retrieved secondary information and for interrupting an output of the desired primary information by the printer.

Abstract: In an information filing apparatus, a portion of an image read by a scanner is immediately displayed on a display screen, even though the display screen is smaller than the entire image to be read. When the display image corresponding to the image portion which has just been read by the scanner reaches a predetermined location of the display screen, the display image is scrolled in synchronism with an image reading operation of the scanner. The image portion which has just been read by the scanner is then displayed on the predetermined location of the display screen.

Abstract: An apparatus for cataloging and retrieving image data is programmed to store not only image data obtained by scanning each original but also reduced image data obtained by thinning these image data and search data used for the convenience in search operations. In a search operation, a plurality of reduced image data may be displayed simultaneously or sequentially with corresponding search data. Image data may be stored in a compressed form so that an increased amount of data can be stored. The apparatus may be programmed such that stored reduced image data are sequentially displayed while a specified key is depressed and particular image data corresponding to the data displayed when the key is released are displayed.

Abstract: An information record/retrieval device registers information by storing retrieval information formed thereon and searches desired information by using the stored retrieval information. Retrieval information is formed in a specified format which can be entered through an image input device which feeds image information to a control processing unit.

Abstract: A paper sheet attracting system includes a suction air casing, a paper sheet attracting unit which has a bottom wall provided with a plurality of air intake openings, and a pressure roller for depressing the paper sheets to be supplied. The leading edge of a paper sheet attracted by the paper sheet attracting unit is caught by a paper sheet feeding member for transferring the paper sheet. When the paper sheet feeding member is enabled, the pressure roller is driven to shift upward so that the pressure roller is separated from the paper sheets. Furthermore, when the paper sheet feeding member is enabled, the suction operation conducted by the paper sheet attracting unit is interrupted, whereby the paper sheet is transferred without disturbance.
