  • Publication number: 20240348681
Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques and mechanisms for providing hybrid cloud services for enterprise fabric. The techniques include enhancing an on-demand protocol (e.g., such as LISP) and allowing simplified security and/or firewall service insertion for datacenter servers providing those services. Accordingly, the techniques described herein provide hybrid cloud services that work in disaggregated, distributed, and consistent way, while avoiding complex datacenter network devices (e.g., such running overlay on TOR), replacing and moving the functionality to on demand protocol enabled servers, which intelligently receive the required mappings as well as registers and publishes the service information to intelligently interact with the network.

  • Publication number: 20240330120
Abstract: A “backup services container” comprises “backup toolkits,” which include scripts for accessing containerized applications plus enabling utilities/environments for executing the scripts. The backup services container is added to Kubernetes pods comprising containerized applications without changing other pod containers. For maximum value and advantage, the backup services container is “over-equipped” with toolkits. The backup services container selects and applies a suitable backup toolkit to a containerized application to ready it for a pending backup. Interoperability with a proprietary data storage management system provides features that are not possible with third-party backup systems. Some embodiments include one or more components of the proprietary data storage management within the illustrative backup services container. Some embodiments include one or more components of the proprietary data storage management system in a backup services pod configured in a Kubernetes node.

  • Patent number: 12107721
Abstract: In one embodiment, dynamic user private networks are virtually segmented within a shared virtual network. A network control system maintains the dynamic logical segmentation of the shared virtual network. User entities (e.g., user devices and/or services) are communicatively coupled to respective personal virtual networks via endpoints of access devices. Each of these endpoints is associated with a corresponding user private network. Responsive in real-time to automated processing of a received electronic particular user request, the network control system automatically modifies the dynamic logical segmentation of the shared virtual network to move a particular user entity on the shared virtual network to newly being on the first dynamic user private network without being disconnected from the shared virtual network. One embodiment uses different user private network identifiers (UPN-IDs) associated with endpoints and received packets to identify their respective user private network.

  • Patent number: 12107734
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media are provided for provisioning a common subnet across a number of subscribers and their respective virtual networks using dynamically generated network policies that provide isolation between the subscribers. The dynamic generation of the network policies is performed when a host (e.g. client) is detected (via a switch) as the host joins the computing network via virtual networks. This ability to configure a common subnet for all the subscriber virtual networks allows these subscribers to more easily access external shared services coming from a headquarter site while keeping the separation and segmentation of multiple subscriber virtual networks within a single subnet. This allows the Enterprise fabric to be more simple and convenient to deploy without making security compromises.

  • Patent number: 12095765
Abstract: Cloud delivered access may be provided. A network device may provide a client device with a pre-authentication virtual network and a pre-authentication address. Next, a policy may be received in response to the client device authenticating. The client device may then be moved to a post-authentication virtual network based on the policy. A post-authentication address may then be obtained for the client device in response to moving the client device to a post-authentication virtual network. Traffic for the client device may then be translated to the post-authentication address.

  • Patent number: 12086082
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for PASID-based routing extension for Scalable IOV systems. The system may include a Central Processing Unit (CPU) operatively coupled to a scalable Input/Output Virtualization (IOV) device via an in-line device such as a smart controller or accelerator. A Control Process Address Space Identifier (C-PASID) associated with a first memory space is implemented in an Assignable Device Interface (ADI) for the IOV device. The ADI also implements a Data PASID (D-PASID) associated with a second memory space in which data are stored. The C-PASID is used to fetch a descriptor in the first memory space and the D-PASID is employed to fetch data in the second memory space. A hub embedded on the in-line device or implemented as a discrete device is used to steer memory access requests and/or fetches to the CPU or to the in-line device using the C-PASID and D-PASID.

  • Patent number: 12086624
Abstract: Live mounting a virtual machine (VM) causes the VM to run off a backup copy or snapshot previously taken of a “live” production VM. The live-mounted VM is generally intended for temporary use such as to validate the integrity and contents of the backup copy for disaster recovery validation, or to access some contents of the backup copy from the live-mounted VM without restoring all backed up files. These uses contemplate that changes occurring during live mount are not preserved after the live-mounted VM expires or is taken down. Thus, live mounting a VM is not a restore operation and usually does not involve access to every block of data in the backup copy. However, live mounting provides live VM service in the cloud sooner than waiting for all of the backup copy/snapshot to be restored.

  • Publication number: 20240289059
Abstract: Data protection resources are automatically scaled to the needs of data source(s) in an application orchestrator computing environment, such as a cluster in a Kubernetes deployment. The approach is adaptable to data sources in production clusters or application suites that are not application orchestrator deployments, such as a cloud-based database-as-a-service (DBaaS). A data storage management system protects cluster-based data with an elastic number of data protection resources (e.g., data agents, media agents), which are deployed on demand. The number of data protection resources deployed for a particular job are appropriate to the workload(s) at present and depend on a variety of scaling factors. In some embodiments, data protection resources are deployed within the same cluster as the data sources.
