  • Patent number: 11782750
Abstract: Certain embodiments described herein relate to an improved virtual machine restoration system. In one embodiment, an information management system receives a request to perform a restore of a virtual machine using virtual machine data stored on a secondary storage device. In response, the information management system boots up the virtual machine after restoring only a portion of the virtual machine data that is needed to boot up the virtual machine, thereby reducing latencies associated with virtual machine boot-up. The information management system continues to retrieve additional portions of the virtual machine data from the secondary storage device as such portions are requested by the virtual machine, thereby reducing or minimizing unnecessary data transfer from the secondary storage device.

  • Publication number: 20230308389
Abstract: Methods and devices configure edge nodes of a virtual network overlay to continuously forward data plane traffic flows between client devices of a common subnet over the course of at least some of the edge nodes being EF-configured. TF-configured edge nodes and EF-configured edge nodes both play roles in unilaterally inducing address discovery by sending to client devices address discovery responses that were not prompted by address discovery requests. TF-configured edge nodes then handle ensuing address discovery requests by proxy, and subsequently handle certain traffic flows according to an EF-compatible forwarding mode, while EF-configured edge nodes continue to forward traffic flows by IP routing normally. This averts throughput of data plane traffic over the network overlay being reduced as a side effect of the heterogeneously configured edge nodes, and averts the possibility of client devices broadcasting address discovery protocol requests as a result of remote client devices being unreachable.

  • Patent number: 11770309
Abstract: In general, the disclosure describes techniques for evaluating application quality of experience metrics over a software-defined wide area network. For instance, a network device may receive an application data packet of a data flow for an application. In response to receiving the application data packet, the network device may assign the data flow to a first link of a plurality of links and initiate a probing process for the data flow on the first link to determine one or more quality of experience (QoE) metrics for the first link. The network device may, at a later time, detect that the data flow is no longer being received. In response to detecting that the data flow is no longer being received, the network device may cease the probing process for the data flow on the first link.

  • Publication number: 20230297403
Abstract: A native cloud-based VM in a cloud computing environment of choice is live-mounted without requiring nesting techniques. All operating system data needed to live-mount the VM is accessed over ISCSI. The disclosed technology: supports both Windows and Unix-like (e.g., Linux) operating systems; handles any number of partitions of the root file system without repeated mounting, exporting, and unmounting; and uses only internet protocols (e.g., HTTP, (SCSI) to live-mount the VM. The live-mounted VM gains access to a variety of secondary copies, e.g., made with file-level techniques or with block-level techniques, made within or outside the public cloud computing environment, made from other VMs having the same or a different hypervisor than the public cloud computing environment, and/or made from non-virtualized sources. Access to snapshots as a data source for the live-mounted VM is also disclosed. Thus, a streamlined and source-agnostic technology is disclosed for live-mounting VMs in a public cloud.

  • Publication number: 20230300024
Abstract: In one embodiment, dynamic user private networks are virtually segmented within a shared virtual network. A network control system maintains the dynamic logical segmentation of the shared virtual network. User entities (e.g., user devices and/or services) are communicatively coupled to respective personal virtual networks via endpoints of access devices. Each of these endpoints is associated with a corresponding user private network. Responsive in real-time to automated processing of a received electronic particular user request, the network control system automatically modifies the dynamic logical segmentation of the shared virtual network to move a particular user entity on the shared virtual network to newly being on the first dynamic user private network without being disconnected from the shared virtual network. One embodiment uses different user private network identifiers (UPN-IDs) associated with endpoints and received packets to identify their respective user private network.

  • Publication number: 20230291687
Abstract: Techniques for group-based classification and policy enforcement at a network fabric edge for traffic that is being sent to external network destinations are disclosed herein. The techniques may include receiving, at a control plane of a network and from an edge node of the network, a request to provide mapping data associated with sending a packet to a destination. Based at least in part on an address prefix value associated with the destination, the control plane may determine that the destination is located in an external network. Additionally, a group identifier that is associated with the destination may be determined. In this way, an indication of the group identifier may be sent to the edge node such that the edge node may determine, based at least in part on the group identifier, a policy decision for routing the packet to the external network.

  • Patent number: 11748143
Abstract: Live mounting a virtual machine (VM) causes the VM to run off a backup copy or snapshot previously taken of a “live” production VM. The live-mounted VM is generally intended for temporary use such as to validate the integrity and contents of the backup copy for disaster recovery validation, or to access some contents of the backup copy from the live-mounted VM without restoring all backed up files. These uses contemplate that changes occurring during live mount are not preserved after the live-mounted VM expires or is taken down. Thus, live mounting a VM is not a restore operation and usually does not involve access to every block of data in the backup copy. However, live mounting provides live VM service in the cloud sooner than waiting for all of the backup copy/snapshot to be restored.

  • Patent number: 11743803
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for device routing management are disclosed. A client device of a wireless network may roam from a first access point to a second access point of the wireless network. The second access point, or the client device itself, may send a network message indicating the client device is currently being served by the second access point. The message may cause a network mapping stored at the first access point and/or at each device associated with the wireless network to be updated to indicate the client device is associated with the second access point, thereby enabling proper routing of network traffic to the client device via the second access point.

  • Publication number: 20230266142
Abstract: An approach is provided for reconstructing a road linear feature. The approach, for example, involves receiving two or more linear feature detections that respectively represent a linear feature of a road as a line segment delimited by two feature points. The approach also involves map matching the two or more linear feature detections to a road link segment of a geographic database. The approach further involves determining an orientation difference for each of the two or more linear feature detections based on an angle difference between each linear feature detection and a link orientation of the map matched road link segment. The approach further involves determining a feature orientation of the linear feature based on an aggregation of the orientation difference for each linear feature detection. The approach further involves constructing a representation of the linear feature based at least in part on the feature orientation.

  • Publication number: 20230269139
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media are provided for provisioning a common subnet across a number of subscribers and their respective virtual networks using dynamically generated network policies that provide isolation between the subscribers. The dynamic generation of the network policies is performed when a host (e.g. client) is detected (via a switch) as the host joins the computing network via virtual networks. This ability to configure a common subnet for all the subscriber virtual networks allows these subscribers to more easily access external shared services coming from a headquarter site while keeping the separation and segmentation of multiple subscriber virtual networks within a single subnet. This allows the Enterprise fabric to be more simple and convenient to deploy without making security compromises.

  • Patent number: 11734209
Abstract: Implementations of the disclosure provide processing device comprising: an interrupt managing circuit to receive an interrupt message directed to an application container from an assignable interface (AI) of an input/output (I/O) device. The interrupt message comprises an address space identifier (ASID), an interrupt handle and a flag to distinguish the interrupt message from a direct memory access (DMA) message. Responsive to receiving the interrupt message, a data structure associated with the interrupt managing circuit is identified. An interrupt entry from the data structure is selected based on the interrupt handle. It is determined that the ASID associated with the interrupt message matches an ASID in the interrupt entry. Thereupon, an interrupt in the interrupt entry is forwarded to the application container.
