Abstract: A hair iron includes a first hair holding part including a first hair holding surface and a second hair holding part including a second hair holding surface configured to face the first hair holding surface. The hair iron holds hair with the first hair holding surface and the second hair holding surface facing each other. The hair iron further includes a discharge device that generates ions and an ion ejection port that ejects the ions thus generated. The discharge device is disposed at a portion of the first hair holding part that does not overlap the first hair holding surface. This can provide the hair iron that can be downsized in the thickness direction while increasing hair care effects.
Abstract: A magnetically coupled reactor and a DC/DC converter are provided between a DC power supply and an inverter. A first smoothing capacitor is provided between the DC power supply and the coupled reactor. A second smoothing capacitor is provided between the DC/DC converter and the inverter. A controller is provided in order to control switching operations of the inverter and the DC/DC converter. The controller causes semiconductor switching elements composing upper and lower arms of the DC/DC converter to perform complementary operations so as to be alternately turned on/off, and causes left and right legs to operate with their switching phases shifted from each other, thereby electric charges stored in both smoothing capacitors are discharged by energy loss in the coupled reactor and the DC/DC converter.
Abstract: Provided is an X-ray analysis system with which it is possible to set appropriate conditions for vapor phase decomposition with ease. The X-ray analysis system includes an X-ray spectrometer and a vapor phase decomposition apparatus. The X-ray spectrometer includes: an X-ray source configured to irradiate a measurement sample having a thin film present on its surface with primary X-rays; a detector configured to measure an intensity of reflected X-rays, or an intensity of fluorescent X-rays; and a calculation unit configured to calculate a film thickness or a coating mass of the thin film based on the intensity of the reflected X-rays or the fluorescent X-rays. The vapor phase decomposition apparatus includes: a vapor phase decomposition portion configured to perform vapor phase decomposition on the thin film; and a control portion configured to determine a vapor phase decomposition time based on the film thickness or the coating mass.

Abstract: A control apparatus for a vehicle drive-force transmitting apparatus which includes a gear mechanism and a continuously-variable transmission mechanism and which establishes selectively a first state in which a drive force is transmitted by the gear mechanism and a second state in which the drive force is transmitted by the continuously-variable transmission mechanism. The control apparatus sets a shift-up-action permitted gear ratio of the continuously-variable transmission mechanism, which makes a state-switch-requiring shift-up action is permitted to be executed. When a running speed of the vehicle is not higher than a given value, a predetermined high gear ratio value is set as the shift-up-action permitted gear ratio. When the running speed is higher than the given value, a predetermined gear ratio range ranging from the predetermined high gear ratio value to a predetermined low gear ratio value is set as the shift-up-action permitted gear ratio.
