  • Patent number: 5837095
Abstract: A joint structure for connecting framing components such as sash members for a window is disclosed having separate functional and decorative junctions between adjacent framing components. The functional junction between components may be formed between opposing and abutting mitered mating surfaces defined at adjacent ends of the component, and a separate squared flange and cooperative recess may be formed on interior surfaces of the components for overlapping the mating surfaces and providing a decorative junction, for example, having the appearance of a mortise and tenon joint. The joint structure is particularly suited for use in custom or replacement applications whereby lineal extruded members formed of a heat weldable material may be cut to size having the aforementioned surfaces, and then heat welded together to form a custom sized framing structures such as a sash or frame for a window or door.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 20, 1996
Date of Patent: November 17, 1998
    Assignee: Andersen Corporation
Inventors: Todd W. Bruchu, Scott R. Beske

  • Patent number: 5540019
Abstract: The present invention provides a mulling strip that interconnects a first window frame and a second window frame. The mulling strip includes structure disposed between the frames to prevent the frames from moving or deflecting toward one another, and structure that interengages the frames to prevent the frames from moving or deflecting away from one another.

  • Patent number: 5382060
Abstract: Latching apparatus for first and second adjacent swinging doors prevents locking of the first door unless the second door is latched and prevents unlatching of the second door unless the first door is open.

  • Patent number: 4999950
Abstract: An inwardly swinging door assembly includes a door member (10a) hingedly mounted to a frame (11). A multi-point lock (29) engages the frame (11) at more than one point. Weatherstripping (36) is cooperatively connected to the edged surfaces 24 through 27. A pressure equalization member (42) is cooperatively connected to the frame for engaging the weatherstrip (36) connected to the bottom edged surface (27).

  • Patent number: 4726147
Abstract: A weatherstrip (20) for use with a slideable panel unit having a first panel and second panel, one of the panels being a slideable panel is disclosed. The weatherstrip (20) includes an engaging member (21) having a leading edge (26a-c) and having a first end (21a), a center region (21b) and a second end (21c). An offset member (22) is cooperatively connected to the engaging member (21), wherein when the offset member (22) is connected to one of the panels, the engaging member (21) is in a generally parallel spaced relationship to one of the panels. The leading edge (26b) of the engaging member (21) is in inwardly displaced at the center region (21b) with respect to the leading edge (26a) and (26c) at the ends (21a and c), whereby the inward displaced region (21b) reduces clashing between the panels when one of the panels is bowed.
