  • Publication number: 20090284520
Abstract: A plasma display and a driving method thereof is provided. The plasma display includes a sustain electrode, a first switch coupling a first power source with a first voltage to the sustain electrode, a second switch coupling a second power source with a second voltage lower than the first voltage to the sustain electrode, an inductor, a power recovery capacitor, a third switch, and a fourth switch. The inductor is coupled to the sustain electrode. The power recovery capacitor is charged with a third voltage between the first and second voltages in a first subfield, and charged with a fourth voltage that is higher than the third voltage in a second subfield. The third and fourth switches couple the inductor to the power recovery capacitor, and are turned on in address periods of the first and second subfields to apply the third and fourth voltages, respectively, to the sustain electrode.

  • Publication number: 20090033592
Abstract: A plasma display device including a scan circuit, a plasma display panel, and a plurality of power sources for driving the plasma display panel. The scan circuit is configured to apply scan voltages to scan electrodes of the plasma display panel in order to select light-emitting cells and non-light-emitting cells during an address period. The scan circuit includes a capacitor configured to remove the need to provide a current cut-off switch to prevent undesirable current flowing between the power supplies during the operation of the plasma display.

  • Patent number: 7414597
Abstract: A PDP driving circuit for a stable operation of a ramp pulse. A capacitor having a temperature characteristic opposite to a temperature characteristic of a part coupled to a switch that operates as a constant current source for generation of a ramp pulse is arranged in the driving circuit for generating a ramp pulse. The ramp pulse linearly increases or decreases a panel voltage of the PDP with respect to time. Parts having opposite temperature characteristics are coupled in parallel to control variation of a gradient of the ramp pulse so that values of the parts may not be varied depending on the temperature changes. Thus, stable operation of the ramp pulse is obtained.
