    Abstract: A combined housing and standard for measuring current velocity and direction in a body of water wherein the housing is tubular in shape in which an inclinometer is mounted and connected to the standard for vertical movement of the housing along the standard, the latter being mounted on a vertically disposed anchoring line. A pair of flexible fins is symmetrically mounted on the housing for positioning the housing in a plane parallel to the directional flow of the current while the housing assumes a vertical tilt proportional to the velocity of the current; the inclinometer registering the compass reading and angle of tilt from which information the direction and velocity of the current are ascertained.
