Patent number: 6771872Abstract: An optical fiber holder (6) includes an optical fiber retainer (2), a C-shaped spacer (3), and a base (4) having a fixing hole (41) defined therein. The optical fiber retainer has a fixing portion (22), and a retaining portion (21) for retaining a number of optical fibers (5) therein. The fixing portion of the optical fiber retainer is encircled by the C-shaped spacer, and received in the hole of the base. The C-shaped spacer is tightly retained in an annular groove (411) defined in the base around the hole. The optical fiber retainer can rotate with respect to the retained C-shaped spacer.Type: GrantFiled: December 24, 2001Date of Patent: August 3, 2004Assignee: Hon Hai Precision Ind. Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kun-Tsan Wu, Shang Chin Liao

Patent number: 6697549Abstract: An optical switch (99) includes a housing (10), a driver (50), a first I/O port (20), a second I/O port (40) and a switching element (32). Each I/O port has a collimator (27,47) and attaches to input and to output fibers. The housing holds the first I/O port and the second I/O port in alignment with one another and supports the driver on a substrate (11) of the housing. The switching element is rotationally attached to the driver and has a first and second mirrors (322, 323) and a GRIN rod lens (324). The driver drives the switching element between a first position, wherein the rod lens aligns with the I/O ports, and a second position, wherein the mirrors align with the I/O ports. Thus light signals from input fibers are variously directed to output fibers on an opposite side, or on the same side, of the optical switch.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2001Date of Patent: February 24, 2004Assignee: Hon Hai Precision Ind. Co., Ltd.Inventors: Shang Chin Liao, Kun-Tsan Wu

Patent number: 6665462Abstract: An optical switch (1) includes a first collimator (5) retaining a first input fiber (11) and a second output fiber (13), a second collimator (6) retaining a first output fiber (12) and a second input fiber (14), a switching element (30), a driving device (40), and a base (50). The switching element has a third reflector (33) fixed to the base and a first and second reflectors (31, 32) attached to a moveable block (41). The driving device moves the first and the second reflectors between a first position and a second position. The switching element switches light signals coming from the first and second input fibers between the first and second output fibers depending on whether the first and second reflectors reflect the light (in the first position) or whether the third reflector reflects the light (in the second position).Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2001Date of Patent: December 16, 2003Assignee: Hon Hai Precision Ind. Patent number: 6636680Abstract: An optical fiber cable holder (9) includes a main body (1) and a coupler (3). The main body comprises a holding member (11) and a fixing member (12). The holding member comprises a base portion (113), and a pair of holding arms (114) extending upwardly from opposite sides of the base portion. Each holding arm has a gradual bend at a terminal portion thereof. A receiving opening (116) is defined between the terminal portions to receive optical fiber cables (4) therethrough. The fixing member includes a support panel (121), a pivot portion (122) depending from support panel, a stop chassis (124) depending from the pivot portion, and an annular groove (123) being defined between the pivot portion and the stop chassis. The coupler is resiliently secured in the groove to retain the main body on a base (2). The holder is thereby rotatably fixed on the base, and prevents excessive bending or pulling of fiber cables retained in the holder.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2002Date of Patent: October 21, 2003Assignee: Hon Hai Precision Ind. Patent number: 6625344Abstract: An optical switch (99) includes a base (10), two input ports (20, 40), two output ports (30, 50), a movable reflector assembly (60), a driving means (70) and a cover (80). The movable reflector assembly has a first reflector (61) with two outer reflecting surfaces (611, 612) and a second reflector (62) with two inner reflecting surfaces (621, 622). The light beams from the input ports propagate to the output ports by moving the movable reflector assembly up and down between a first position and a second position and switching the first reflector and the second reflector into the path of the light beams in turn.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 2001Date of Patent: September 23, 2003Assignee: Hon Hai Precision Ind. Patent number: 6587614Abstract: An optical switch (80) includes a base (11), two input ports (20, 40), two output ports (30, 50), a reflector assembly (60), a driving means (70) and a cover (12). The reflector assembly has a first reflector (61) with two reflecting surfaces (611, 612) and a second reflector (62) with two reflecting surfaces (621, 622). The light beams from the input ports selectively propagate to the output ports by controlling the rotation angle (90° or N×90°; N: natural number) of the reflector assembly to be in a first position or a second position and therefore to switch different reflecting surface of the first reflector and the second reflector into the path of the light beams.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2001Date of Patent: July 1, 2003Assignee: Hon Hai Precision Ind.
