    Abstract: An isochronous output data stream format which is time multiplexed and has a fixed time period where input isochronous data streams are multiplexed into the output isochronous data stream and the output data stream is the same data rate as the fastest input isochronous data stream. One or more of the input data streams contain a code which has been run length limited and/or has a zero running digital sum with banded disparity. In another embodiment, an isochronous output data stream format which is time multiplexed and has a fixed time period where input isochronous data streams are multiplexed into the output isochronous data stream and the output data stream is the sum of the maximum input isochronous data streams. One or more of the data streams contain a code which has been run length limited and/or has a zero running digital sum with banded disparity.

    Abstract: An isochronous output data stream format in which a single n bit word is transmitted as m multiple synchronous data streams where the length of the word transmitted in each data stream is n/m, the output data stream containing multiple isochronous different data rate data streams and one or more asynchronous data stream or streams. One bit from each of the m multiple synchronous data streams are combined and transmitted as a single signal at one of 2m analog levels. Data which is it desired to have a lower error rate than other data is transmitted in the synchronous data stream corresponding to the most significant bit associated with the 2m analog levels. Calibration data is transmitted in the synchronous data stream corresponding to the most significant bit associated with the 2m analog levels, the calibration data also being transmitted distributed over each of the m synchronous data streams.

    Abstract: A display system comprises a display screen including a matrix of display elements and a permanent magnet having an array of channels formed therein. Each channel corresponds to a different display element. Each display element comprises a phosphor target, an electron source and a device for controlling flow of electrons from the source through the corresponding channel in the magnet onto the target. Addressing device comprises first and second orthogonal conductors defining a grid. Each display element is located at the intersection of a different pair of first and second conductors. Each first conductor is connected to a first control electrode of the control device of each display element in a corresponding line of display elements and each second conductor is connected to a second control electrode of the control device of each display element in a corresponding line of display elements.

    Abstract: A data processing system is disclosed, which includes a system unit, a display device for displaying data generated by the system unit, data communication means for communicating display data between the display device and the system unit, a peripheral device, and peripheral communication means for communicating data between the peripheral device and the system unit. In accordance with the present invention, data is communicated between the system unit and the peripheral device via the display device. Data is transferred between the display device and the peripheral device utilizing a wireless communication link, thereby eliminating the problems associated with electrical cables. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the wireless communication link includes a first transceiver means located in the display device and a second transceiver means located in a peripheral device. In a first embodiment, the first and second transceiver means comprise infrared transceivers.

    Abstract: Display apparatus comprises a display screen (400) and a drive circuit (401) connected to the display screen (400) to generate an image on the display screen (400) in response to an input video signal (R,G,B). A timer (405) generates a count in response to a clock signal. A detector (403,404,402) also receives the input video signal and resets the timer (405) on detection of a change in image content between successive frames of the input video signal (R,G,B). Control means (402) is connected to the timer (405) and to the drive circuit (401) for at least partially disabling the drive circuit (401) in response to the count stored in the timer (405) exceeding a predetermined threshold.
