Publication number: 20220400968Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to a system and method for measuring intracranial pressure (ICP). Embodiments of the present invention include emitting an electromagnetic wave into the temple area and/or inner ear of a patient and measuring ICP based on the characteristics of the reflected and/or transmitted electromagnetic wave scattered by the tissue and/or cavity. The characteristics may include variations in the electromagnetic wave corresponding to distortions by the cavity within the skull beneath the temple and/or the oval window within the patient's inner ear. Further, embodiments of the present invention include ICP is elevated in the patient. The present invention concentrates on measuring and quantifying the changes in transmission characteristics to determine changes in ICP.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 16, 2022Publication date: December 22, 2022Inventors: Sheryl Rae Thingvold, Sebastian Flaminius Marius Koga, Wesley Bryan Hodges

Patent number: 10725136Abstract: A cerebrospinal diffusion phantom including a housing having a shape and size configured for insertion into a magnetic resonance coil in one or more preselected poses. A scaffold support structure is mounted on an interior of said housing and a plurality of elongated diffusion mimicking members supported on the support array. The elongated diffusion mimicking members are affixed to the scaffold support structure such that elongated diffusion mimicking members extend in directions needed to substantially emulate a 3 dimensional arrangement of cerebrospinal diffusion fiber tracts in a living organism; modules for elimination of resolution based-bias, angular accuracy evaluation, diffusion rate calibration, and quality assurance image referencing. Each elongated diffusion mimicking member includes an aqueous component which can undergo diffusion along the elongated diffusion mimicking member.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2017Date of Patent: July 28, 2020Assignee: Synaptive Medical (Barbados) Inc.Inventors: Fergal Kerins, Timotheus Anton Gmeiner, Jeff Alan Stainsby, Chad Tyler Harris, Sheryl Rae Thingvold, Gregory Allan Whitton

Publication number: 20160306925Abstract: A quality control system for performing quality control checks on pre-scheduled medical imaging studies. The system includes a processor and an interface for receiving electronic orders, each order specifying a medical imaging procedure to be performed at a specified procedure time to produce a study. The processor performs a series of functions for each electronic order. It first determines whether the study to be produced by the specified procedure according to the order requires a quality control check. Then, if the study requires a quality control check, the processor waits until a decision time that is the earlier of the time that the study becomes available for performing a quality control check, and a period of time after the specified procedure time. If, at the decision time, the study is available for performing a quality control check, then the processor performs the quality control check on the study.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 14, 2015Publication date: October 20, 2016Inventors: Steven Richard Wranovsky, Thanh Duc Huynh, Sheryl Rae Thingvold
