  • Patent number: 6543416
Abstract: An electrically-controlled throttle valve apparatus includes a motor, a speed reducing mechanism for reducing rotation speed transmitted from the motor, a throttle valve connected to the speed reducing mechanism, and a force applying device applying force to the throttle valve in the direction of returning the valve to its initial position and adjusting the opening of the throttle valve by driving the motor. Parameters of the motor, the speed reducing mechanism, and the force applying device have values such that the operation time t from the minimum to the maximum throttle valve opening, which is determined by an evaluation equation obtained from equations of throttle valve motion, is less than a prescribed target throttle valve operation time t*. Furthermore, resistance and an induction voltage constant of the motor are determined to satisfy a constraint equation obtained based on Ohm's law.

  • Patent number: 6382181
Abstract: An electric drive actuator opens and closes a throttle valve to control an intake air flow rate of the internal combustion engine. A motor case contains a motor constituting the electric drive actuator and a gear case contains a gear mechanism to transmit power of the motor to the throttle valve shaft. A motor inserting port of the motor case is opened to the gear case. The motor is attached to the motor case by fastening a motor bracket to screw holes with three screws. Three sides forming a contour of the motor bracket are curved lines. A motor positioning portion being fitted to the three curved lines of the motor bracket to position the motor is formed in the gear case.

  • Patent number: 6098594
Abstract: An electrically-controlled throttle valve apparatus includes a motor, a speed reducing mechanism for reducing the rotation speed that is transmitted from the motor, a throttle valve connected to the speed reducing mechanism, and a force applying arrangement for applying force to the throttle valve in the direction of returning the valve to its initial position and for adjusting the opening of the throttle valve by driving the motor. Specification parameters of the motor, the speed reducing mechanism, and the force applying arrangement have values such that the operation time t from the minimum opening to the maximum opening of the throttle valve, which is determined by an evaluation equation obtained from equations of motion of the throttle valve, is less than a prescribed target operation time t* of the throttle valve. Furthermore, the resistance and the induction voltage constant of the motor are determined so as to satisfy a constraint equation obtained based on Ohm's law.

  • Patent number: 6089208
Abstract: When the power source of a motor is turned off, a cam connected to the motor is held at an initial default stopping position by a return spring generating a torque in one direction and a throttle valve connected to a cam via an arm, and a valve gear is held at a corresponding default opening position. When the motor rotates and generates its torque, the arm first closes the throttle valve to a prescribed minimum opening and then opens the throttle valve in the fully open direction.

  • Patent number: 6079390
Abstract: In an initial opening degree setting mechanism which keeps an initial opening degree of a throttle valve (24) larger than that of a fully closed position thereof when no current is supplied to a motor (12) for driving a throttle shaft (18) for the throttle valve (24), a throttle lever (3) and a sleeve (45) are inserted into the throttle shaft (18) and secured thereto and a sleeve (42) integrated with a return lever (2) is fitted over the sleeve (45) so as to permit a relative rotational mevement with respect to the sleeve (45). The sleeve (42) is urged by a return spring (4) in the direction of closing the throttle valve (24) upto the position of the initial opening degree. With the urging force the return lever (2) is placed to be engageable with the throttle lever (3).

  • Patent number: 6047680
Abstract: To achieve an integration of components and the rationalization of the default opening mechanism of the throttle valve, a reduction of the load of the motor drive and a stabilization of the throttle control operation. In a default opening setting mechanism with which the default opening of the throttle valve 24 is maintained to be larger than the fully closed position when the electric current does not pass through the motor 12 driving the throttle shaft 18, the throttle lever 3 and the sleeve 45 are inserted and fixed, and the sleeve 42 united together with the return lever 2 is engaged with the sleeve 45 so as to be enabled to rotate in relative to the sleeve 45. The sleeve 42 is energized by the return coil in the close direction of the throttle valve 24 up to the initial opening position. This energized operation enables the return lever 2 to be coupled with the sleeve 3.
