    Abstract: A system for group managing plural elevator cars according to a group management algorithm including plural parameters includes a seeking apparatus for seeking the optimum parameter set, the optimum set being taken from combinations of parameter values given to the group management algorithm. Some new sets are produced by crossover or mutation in the operation of the system. Excellent sets are accumulated in a memory using additional registrations in which excellent sets are additionally stored in the memory and deletions in which impaired sets are deleted from the memory. The optimum set is selected from the accumulated sets, so that the system can efficiently seek the optimum set.

An estimated travel time operation unit including an input layer is provided for taking in the input data. An output layer is provided for outputting the estimated travel time. An intermediate layer is provided between the input and output layers in which a weighting factor is set. The estimated travel time operation unit comprises a neural network and an output data conversion unit for converting the estimated travel time output from the output layer into data that can be used for a predetermined control operation.

In the group management method, a waiting time derived from a registered floor call which is assigned to each car is evaluated, and a car to be assigned to the floor call is selected on the basis of the result of the evaluation.

The apparatus predictively calculates cage positions and cage directions after the respective cages have successively responded to the cage calls and the allotted hall calls since the current time and a predetermined time has lapsed.
