The power supply unit may include a power receiving unit receiving AC power from an external power source, a rectifying unit rectifying the AC power to convert the AC power to DC power, and a power factor correction unit adjusting a power factor of the DC power based on voltage at a specified point of the power supply unit and outputting voltage of the DC power to be output to the display, and the processor may be configured to identify power consumption of the display and to turn on or off the power factor correction unit based on the identified power consumption of the display. Moreover, various embodiment grasped through the disclosure are possible.
