  • Patent number: 6663253
Abstract: A photosensitive polyimide resin 12 is exposed and developed via a computer-aided designed (CAD) pattern film 14 to form a pattern onto a mold base 11 by means of photoresisit method. A molded pattern 13 is thus formed to construct a mold 10. An optical panel 2 is formed by the use of the mold 10 with an optical pattern 3 comprising circular or rectangular dot holes or dot projections each of which is several &mgr;ms and arranged in high density which is a reversal of the molded pattern 13. The optical pattern 3 performs light guiding or diffusion of incident light in high luminance and with a high degree of uniformity, thereby achieving secondary illumination without having see-through of the optical pattern.

  • Patent number: 5915855
Abstract: A bar light source for an edge light panel and an illumination sign board using the same. The bar light source includes a transparent bar member such as acrylic resin. The transparent bar member has a light-source light supplying portion formed at an end of thereof, a transparent incident light supply surface formed elongately on the front surface thereof, and a light guiding pattern printed on the back surface thereof. An optical cable propagates light from a lamp to the light-source light supplying portion. The light guiding pattern guides light to control uniformly the brightness of the bar light source. Thus, the light is supplied onto the incident end surface of the edge light panel in an area illumination board.

  • Patent number: 5410454
Abstract: The present invention provides an incident light supply device which enables the intensity of illumination of an edge light illuminator to be drastically increased, while keeping it thin and reducing power consumption. An edge light panel is provided with a mirror frame at the incident end surface side. A reflection mirror is positioned at an angle to the edge light panel, and spaced away from a linear form light source in the thickness direction, whereby a pseudo-light source that is a virtual image of the linear form light source is obtained. This pseudo-light source is used together with the linear form light source as an incident light source. Between the edge light panels there is a spacing zone, to which the linear form light source is opposed in planar alignment. The location of the reflection mirror is determined such that the pseudo-light source is opposed in planar alignment with the incident end surface of each edge light panel.

  • Patent number: 5408387
Abstract: Reflective material is closely provided to cover the surfaces of a diffusing-reflection arrangements that are defined by a dot pattern on a transparent substrate, thereby fabricating an edge light panel. The diffusing-reflecting arrangements are in microspheric configurations, so that they can act as a condenser lenses, thereby achieving a much higher luminance in combination with the location of the reflective material.

  • Patent number: 5283673
Abstract: There is provided a surface luminous source panel comprising an irregular reflection layer carrying on it a large number of irregular reflector specks and arranged on the surface of a transparent substrate. The reflection layer has a parallel pattern section having an area of irregular reflector specks per unit length of the layer which smoothly increases with the distance from a light source along the panel; and a regulating pattern section located close to the light source and partially surrounded by the parallel pattern section. The regulating pattern section has a hill-shaped contour starting from the edge close to the light source and an area of irregular reflector specks per unit length of the layer also smoothly increasing with the distance from the light source but at a rate smaller than that of the parallel pattern section.

  • Patent number: 5207493
Abstract: There is provided an edge light panel having a very even brightness. The edge light panel equipped with an irregular reflection layer and surrounded by a front surface diffusion layer, a rear surface reflection layer and peripheral edge reflection layers is additionally provided with margin reflection layers arranged along the front margin of the edge light panel, except along the peripheral edge juxtaposed with a primary light source. While the margin reflection layers may be separately arranged, they may also be integrally formed with the peripheral edge reflection layers, the rear surface reflection layer and the front surface diffusion layer. A narrow gap is advantageously provided between the edge light panel and the front surface diffusion layer and/or the rear surface reflection layer.

  • Patent number: 5178447
Abstract: There is provided an edge-illuminating emitter panel or edge light panel in a liquid crystal display device. The edge light panel includes a transparent resin substrate having an irregular reflection surface with a mesh pattern formed thereon. A mesh size of the pattern varies with the distance away from a primary light source which is juxtaposed with a side of the substrate. The side is so finished as to provide a rough surface for permitting light issued from the light source to effectively enter the substrate. The rough surface is continually formed along the side. The thus formed rough surface ensures the light incident on the side a sure entrance as well as a sure difusion thereof, whereby the edge light panel improves the display device in brightness and uniformity of in display clarity. The rough surface may be formed intermittently or formed on at least a part of the side.

  • Patent number: 4985809
Abstract: The present invention provides a surface light source panel having superior brightness and uniformity of light. According to the present invention, diffused reflection sections are formed onto a transparent resin substrate by the printing of ink. Since the density of the diffused reflection sections and the area ratio thereof with respect to the transparent resin substrate, and also the containing ratio of additives in the ink are specified, the surface light source panel displays superior brightness and uniformity of light even when the substrate is a single plate which has ben laminated in a conventional panel. Moreover, although the surface light source panel of the present invention is provided with a light source at one end thereof, since the portion of the largest area ratio of the diffused reflection sections is arranged at a position deflected to the side of a reflecting part at the other end of the panel, the brightness and uniformity of the light can be more secured.
