  • Patent number: 9233573
Abstract: A nib, among other parts which constitute a writing instrument, is made of a synthetic resin material in which engineering plastic is used. An ink supply wick includes a wick cover. An outer shape of a wick cover is determined such that it is attached to an outer periphery of the ink supply wick between the nib and the ink supply wick and is made to closely adhere to an inner periphery of the nib at least at the tip of the nib. A space between the nib and the ink supply wick is filled with the wick cover. The nib is made of a synthetic resin material in which engineering plastic is used. Therefore, the nib wear resistant and duration of the nib or the writing instrument can be extended.

  • Patent number: 5957610
Abstract: A penpoint has a base portion and a plurality of comb-tooth pieces and a converging member fitted over the portion of the penpoint body between the base portion and the comb-tooth pieces. The uniform pressure of the converging member converges the comb-tooth pieces front ends into an undistorted hemispheric writing portion having ink passages between the adjoining comb-tooth pieces. When the penpoint is pressed against paper with the pen axis inclined, the front ends of the comb-tooth pieces shift and elastically deform to expand the outer diameter of the hemispheric portion. When pressure is relieved it returns to its original hemispherical shape. The thickness of strokes varies according to writing pressure. The penpoint can write in any direction.

  • Patent number: 5902064
Abstract: A conical penpoint is disclosed which resiliently deflects at its end by the pressure of writing to allow the thickness of written lines to be varied easily. The conical penpoint comprises: a penpoint body having a cylindrical base portion and a conical portion formed of a plurality of comb-tooth pieces continuous to and extending forwardly from the base portion; and an ink supply core installed inside the penpoint body and extending longitudinally therein. The front ends of the comb-tooth pieces are joined together so that the front ends of the adjacent comb-tooth pieces are in resilient contact with each other. When the apex portion formed by the joined front ends of the comb-tooth pieces is pressed against paper with its axis at an angle with respect to the paper, the penpoint elastically deforms allowing the thickness of written lines to be varied.

  • Patent number: 5587017
Abstract: A steel sheet is plated with a molten metal in a plating tank. A buffer member is provided between a sink roll submerged in the melt in the plating tank and the side wall of tank at its delivery end from which the plated steel sheet emerges. During plating, the buffer member decelerates the melt flows coming from below the sink roll so as to settle the suspended dross in the melt. The buffer member may be in the form of a rod or a plate. If desired, it may be combined with a shield plate provided below the sink roll or a raised portion formed on the bottom of the plating tank.

  • Patent number: 4386867
Abstract: A pen nib construction comprising a pen nib and a holder in which the pen nib is fitted. The pen nib is constructed by a plurality of pen nib pieces fixed back-to-back to each other and forming an ink channel extending axially, and the pen nib is provided at its pointed end with long splits and relatively short recesses which are disposed alternately and at equal angular distances. The pen nib contains an ink-containing portion near its pointed end. One end of the holder is divided into a plurality of ink feed tongues which are in contact with the outer surface of the pen nib. The other end of the holder is connected to an ink reservoir of the pen. At least one of the pen nib pieces is provided on its intermediate portion with another split which connects the ink channel with outside of the pen nib. Thus, ink is supplied from the ink reservoir to the pointed end of the pen nib through a plurality of passages including the ink channel and the narrow gap between the pen nib and the ink feed tongues.
