    Abstract: A weighing and packing device for successively producing packages of product each of which is conformable with a predetermined weight condition. The device comprises a pair of combination weighing and packing machines mounted on a common frame as a single unit. Each machine includes a combination weigher and an associated packer which are mechanically interlocked so that the batches of product successively delivered from the combination weigher are packed by the packer in tubular bags fabricated successively from a sheet material. The combination weighers of both machines have their own control units electronically interlocked so that both machines can operate in mutually synchronized or nonsynchronized fashion with or without time lag.

    Abstract: A combination weighing system for weighing batches of articles and selecting a combination of batches satisfying a condition predetermined for both total weight and number of articles. In the system, the measured weight of each batch is divided by a reference unit weight of the articles and converted into the number of articles which is then rounded into an integral number. This integral number is multiplied by the reference unit weight and restored to the weight of articles. Then, both weights or numbers appearing before and after the rounding operation are mutually weighted and averaged and the resultant weighted averages are subjected to a conventional combination selecting operation.

    Abstract: A combination weighing method using a combination weighing machine comprising a plurality of weighing hoppers for weighing product and a plurality of auxiliary hoppers located under respective weighing hoppers for receiving weighed product discharged therefrom. The weights of product are initially stored in weighing hopper memories corresponding to the respective weighing hoppers and then transferred to auxiliary hopper memories weighed product is discharged into the auxiliary hoppers and the emptied weighing hoppers are automatically reloaded with fresh product to be weighed. At least the weight values stored in the auxiliary hopper memories are combined for selecting from the resultant combinations a combination whose sum weight satisfies a predetermined weight condition. The contents of the auxiliary hoppers corresponding to the selected combination are discharged into a collection chute for packing and the emptied auxiliary hoppers are reloaded from the corresponding weighing hoppers.

    Abstract: A dispersion feeder for distributively feeding product to a plurality of weighing units arranged circularly about a common axis, comprising a plurality of conveyer troughs arranged radially about the axis for communicating by their outer ends respectively with the weighing units, and a plurality of vibrating units attached respectively to the conveyer troughs for subjecting each conveyer trough to independent vibration. Each conveyer trough is provided with a projection inclined upwardly and radially inwardly toward the common axis. These projections are arranged radially about the axis without mutual contact to form a conical or domed substantially continuous central dispersion surface, and each projection and its corresponding conveyor trough is adapted to be subjected to independent vibration to feed product supplied directly onto the dispersion surface to the corresponding conveyer trough.

    Abstract: A conveyer system having a pair of spaced roller chains driven by chain wheels and having carriages disposed between the chains and pivotally coupled thereto by means of shafts. The carriages while normally maintaining horizontal positions, each include a pair of horizontally disposed rollers and a pair of vertically disposed rollers for cooperation with fixed guides for maintaining the carriages horizontal whether travelling through horizontal, vertical or inclined paths. The system also includes guide means coupled to the carriage shafts for engaging wheels having recesses therein to hold the carriages horizontal while the chains travel about the supporting chain wheels.
