Patent number: 4610057Abstract: A separable slide fastener comprises a pair of stringers, a slider and a separable bottom end assembly. Such bottom end assembly includes a socket connected to one of the paired stringers, a first pin projecting from the socket and secured to that stringer, and a second similar pin connected to the other stringer and having a planar outer surface. The first pin has a first outer flat surface disposed adjacent to and flush with the second pin, and a second outer surface extending from the first flat surface and beveled toward the plane of the associated stringer.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 1984Date of Patent: September 9, 1986Assignee: Yoshida Kogyo K.K.Inventor: Shunji Akashi

Patent number: 4571785Abstract: A separable bottom-end-stop assembly of thermoplastic synthetic resin, for a separable slide fastener, comprises a pair of first and second separate pin members, and a socket member for being secured to the first pin member, the socket member having a pair of first and second bores receptive of the first and second pin members, respectively. The first pin member has on its opposite faces a pair of recesses, and the socket member has a pair of opposed projections extending into the first bore. In assembling, the projections of the socket member are received in the respective recesses of the first pin member when the latter is inserted into the socket member's first bore. Because of this projection-and-recess locking, the first pin member can be kept exactly in position relative to the socket member while these two members are joined together by fusing.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 1984Date of Patent: February 25, 1986Assignee: Yoshida Kogyo K.K.Inventor: Shunji Akashi

Patent number: 4543805Abstract: A separable slide fastener to be attached to a knit fabric has a pair of warp-knit stringer tapes each with a series of openings. Each of the stringer tapes may include a reinforcement film bonded to a lower end portion thereof and having a recess which allows some of the tape openings to be exposed for use in attachment to the knit fabric. The recess may be covered with a thin layer penetratable by knitting needles. A separble bottom end stop may be injection-molded on the reinforcement films bonded to the stringer tapes. Knitting needles are inserted in the openings, and a fabric is knitted thereon to form successive courses. To this end, a row of loops of a course are looped with transverse longitudinally spaced thread portions which define ends of the openings.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1982Date of Patent: October 1, 1985Assignee: Yoshida Kogyo K.K.Inventors: Hiroshi Yoshida, Yoshio Matsuda, Shunji Akashi

Patent number: 4516304Abstract: In a reinforcing-film applying apparatus for use in production of separable slide fasteners, there are a first working station where a shaping die and a coacting ultrasonic horn are located, and a second working station where a heating die and a coacting heating punch are located, the first and second working stations being spaced apart remotely from one another along a longitudinal path of a slide fastener chain. When one of successive pairs of blank tape portions arrives at the first working station, a reinforcing film piece is placed on the fastener chain across the pair of blank tape portions, whereupon the shaping die and the ultrasonic horn are moved toward one another to fuse the reinforcing film piece to the pair of blank tape portions only at their inner marginal areas and also to shape such fused marginal portions so as to provide therealong a pair of pin-like members to which a pin and a box of a separable bottom end stop are to be attached.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1983Date of Patent: May 14, 1985Assignee: Yoshida Kogyo K. Patent number: 4312103Abstract: A separable slide fastener has a separable end stop assembly including a pair of pin members each formed, by injection molding, on one of a pair of fastener stringers along a bottom end portion of an inner longitudinal edge thereof, and means for holding the pair of pin members in collateral relation to couple the stringers at their bottom ends. A pair of reinforcing wing members are each formed integrally with one of the pin members and extend therefrom so as to overlie an inner marginal portion of one reinforcing film attached to a respective one of stringer tapes. Each wing member has an outer edge extending substantially parallel to one of the pin members and disposed slightly outwardly of an outermost side edge of a slider.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 1980Date of Patent: January 26, 1982Assignee: Yoshida Kogyo K KInventor: Shunji Akashi

Patent number: 4309233Abstract: A pair of continuous fastener stringers are fed intermittently for a distance corresponding to an individual slide fastener length. A strip is placed on one surface of the stringers while the latter are held stationary between intermittent movements. Then, heat and pressure is applied to the stringers at its portion where the strip has been placed upon; to fuse adjacent coupling elements with each other and with a pair of stringer tapes, and the latter with the strip, and to shape the fused coupling elements into a desired configuration. Such shaped coupling elements are cut to provide a separable pin and a retainer pin. Simultaneously with this cutting, the stringers are cut along a line extending transversely of the stringers and passing near the two pins to provide an individual slide fastener length. A retainer is attached to the retainer pin.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1981Date of Patent: January 5, 1982Assignee: Yoshida Kogyo K.K.Inventor: Shunji Akashi

Patent number: 4257839Abstract: A method of welding a row of interconnected thermoplastic coupling elements for slide fasteners at opposed leg portions of each coupling element with the use of an ultrasonic horn. The method comprises: pressing the opposed leg portions of the coupling elements against the ultrasonic horn on its opposite sides during the coupling elements are being fed at constant speed; concurrently with this pressing step, fusing the opposed leg portions of the coupling elements at their confronting inner surfaces by ultrasonically vibrating the ultrasonic horn in a direction parallel to the confronting inner surfaces; and pressing the opposed leg portions of the coupling elements, after the latter is disengaged from the ultrasonic horn, against each other so as to be united at the confronting inner surfaces that have been fused. An apparatus for carrying the above method into practice efficiently and accurately is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 1979Date of Patent: March 24, 1981Assignee: Yoshida Kogyo, K.K.Inventors: Hiroshi Yoshida, Shunji Akashi

Patent number: 4254539Abstract: A slide fastener stringer comprises a stringer tape including thermoplastic synthetic fibers and a row of continuous fastener elements made of thermoplastic synthetic resin and fixed by sewing threads to one longitudinal edge of the tape, the elements being reinforced by a braid extending along the element row. The slide fastener stringer has a cut edge where the tape, extreme one of the fastener elements, sewing threads, and braid are united together by fusing the tape and the extreme fastener elements against reveling of the cut ends of the tape, sewing threads, and braid, and against sticking up of the element from the tape. The cut edge has a substantially flat surface slanted with respect to the plane of the stringer tape, thereby giving the cut edge a neat and smooth appearance with no burrs thereon.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 1979Date of Patent: March 10, 1981Assignee: Yoshida Kogyo K KInventors: Hiroshi Yoshida, Shunji Akashi
