  • Publication number: 20040241114
Abstract: This invention relates to a novel ion-pair delivery system useful for gender and ethnic background selective hair care and nail care applications in which an electron donor composition and an electron acceptor composition, or a proton donor composition and a proton acceptor composition, or an anionic and a cationic composition, are combined synergistically. The bioavailability, deposition, functional performance, and consumer aesthetics of the compositions thus combined in such ion-pairs are enhanced synergistically. Hair care compositions, such as shampoo, conditioner, hair lotion, hair oil, hair gel, hair sheen, hair rinse, hair balm, hair wax, hair spray, and such, and nail care compositions, such as nail enamel, nail creams, nail serums, nail lacquers, nail spray, and nail polish, and such, can thus be obtained with synergistically enhanced performance.

  • Publication number: 20040228884
Abstract: This invention relates to a novel ion-pair delivery system useful for cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and topical nutraceutical applications in which the functional performance and consumer aesthetics of an electron donor composition and an electron acceptor composition, or a proton donor composition and a proton acceptor composition, are synergistically enhanced when such compositions are combined in an ion-pair mode. During ion-pair bonding process, the electron donor composition or the proton acceptor composition become positively charged and the electron acceptor composition or proton donor composition become negatively charged and thus bind together in an ionic manner. Such ion-pair compositions release their electronically bound components in their original state when such compositions are absorbed into skin and reach physiological pH conditions.

  • Publication number: 20040219124
Abstract: The present invention discloses a novel ion-pair delivery system based mask compositions for face, hair, skin, and body applications. These compositions come off from the site of their application essentially in one piece with the appearance, for example, of a piece of sea-weed or a continuous film. These mask compositions are suitable for a variety of delivery system methods, such as peel-off mask, moisturizing mask, exfoliating mask, prosthetic mask, soaking mask, depilatory mask, rub-off mask, two-phase mask, two-compartment mask, heat-releasing mask, and such. These mask compositions are made from the biopolymer based films that are cross-linked with divalent or trivalent metal cations. During the cross-linking process, such divalent and trivalent metal cations may also act as release agents for other face, hair, skin, and body beneficial compositions in their enhanced bioavailable forms by an ion-pair activation mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20040208902
Abstract: The present invention discloses the utilization of zeolites for controlled-release of cosmetic and pharmaceutical compositions by nano-diffusion technology. The treatment and protection of skin surface requires that certain compositions be delivered to the skin surface and allowed to remain on the skin surface for as long as possible before such ingredients are absorbed into deeper layers of skin and carried into the bloodstream. Zeolites do not absorb into the skin, which is useful for topical delivery of cosmetic and pharmaceutical compositions, for example antiaging, anti-wrinkle, antioxidants, skin whitening, acne treatment, rosacea treatment, sun screens, UV blocks, anesthetics, skin soothers, anti-irritants, anti-inflammatory agents, vitamins, hormones, and such that are electronically attached to the outer surfaces of such zeolites and are released to the outer surface of skin by a diffusion-controlled thermodynamic process.

  • Publication number: 20040175340
Abstract: I have discovered cosmetic cold-wax hair removal (depilatory) compositions suitable for site-specific face or body applications with the following attributes: (1) A pre-heating or microwave step is not necessary, (2) Complete hair removal is achieved in a single application on a specific site or area, (3), No (or minimal) skin irritation is experienced, (4) Bond to hair preferentially, and not to skin, (5) Provide lubricity and emolliency to skin, (6) Can be applied either directly on the skin or, preferably, on a piece of precut fabric, plastic or paper, which is then applied to specific site where hair removal is desired. Alternatively, dispensing applicators can also be used that can be filled for delivery at the specific site where depilation is desired.

  • Publication number: 20040166069
Abstract: The present invention relates to boosting of the skin whitening benefits of commonly used tyrosinase inhibitors, tyrosinase competitors, and melanin and other color bodies' reducing agents. The activity of such compositions can be synergistically enhanced by the inclusion of at least one antioxidant composition. This synergistic benefit is further increased if a UV-inhibitor or UV-absorber is also included in such compositions. This is both unexpected and surprising because most such tyrosinase inhibitors, tyrosinase competitors, or melanin reducing agents are also known to possess antioxidant and UV-absorbing properties. Thus, the skin whitening benefits are synergistically increased by combining at least one of the following; (i) a tyrosinase inhibiting agent, or (ii) a tyrosinase competing agent, or (iii) a melanin reducing agent, or (iv) combinations thereof; with at least one antioxidant composition.

  • Publication number: 20040161435
Abstract: I have discovered cosmetic mask compositions suitable for face, neck, chin or body applications. These compositions synergistically combine at least one skin beneficial cosmetic or drug composition with at least one composition to promote excess fat reduction, cellulite control, or muscle toning benefits. The mask composition also contains at least one binder composition that binds with other beneficial ingredients by electrostatic, atomic, or ionic charges to synergistically enhance their topical site-specific benefits. These mask compositions are suitable for a variety of delivery system methods that include peel-off mask, leave-in mask, moisturizing mask, exfoliating mask, prosthetic mask, soaking mask, depilatory mask, foaming mask, rinse-off mask, sloughing mask, rub-off mask, two-phase mask, dual-chamber mask, and self-heating (heat releasing) mask.

  • Publication number: 20040156873
Abstract: The present invention relates to acne and rosacea compositions by a six-prong synergistic combination treatment strategy that includes (1) control of excess sebum production, (2) control of undesirable bacteria or mites, (3) control of inflammation, (4) enhanced desquamation of follicular infundibulum cells, (5) reduction of irritation from anti-acne or rosacea compositions themselves, and (6) enhancement of the topical bioavailability of anti-acne and rosacea compositions. This is achieved by a synergistic combination of commonly utilized topical anti-acne and rosacea ingredients with a topical bioavailability enhancement composition, which results in enhanced anti-acne and rosacea action from such ingredients. Moreover, additional inclusion of an anti-inflammatory composition, and also a vascular micro-circulation enhancement composition, further results in synergistic superior anti-acne and rosacea benefits from such compositions.
