  • Publication number: 20020169366
Abstract: In a method and system for monitoring the course of therapy of a patient being therapeutically treated, at least one information value that requires a therapeutic and/or diagnostic measure and that is a direct or indirect measure of the course of the therapy is registered continuously or in time intervals, and at least one comparison value, to be compared to the information value or to a calculated value determined based on the information value, is allocated to the information value. An alarm signal is emitted given an impermissible deviation of the information value or of the calculated value from the comparison value and is detected in the course of the comparison The comparison value is varied dependent on the course of the therapy and is adapted to the course of the therapy, the adaptation of ensuing automatically or by means of an authorized person or entity.

  • Patent number: 5689222
Abstract: An electromagnetic relay having a coil core which carries a coil. The coil is connected to one end to the short limb of an L-shaped magnet yoke, on a long limb of the L-shaped magnet, a hinged armature is supported in a manner which allows the armature to pivot about a pivot axis on the long limb of the magnet. In order to achieve a precisely defined switching behavior which is concurrent for the relays of a series, the length of the coil core is produced by means of upsetting as a function of the height of the pivot axis above a base area of the magnet yoke on which the coil core is secured, with the result that the position of the hinged armature with respect to a pole face of the coil core is precisely defined.

The printing channel is coupled on the entry and exit sides to a return channel which has paper-transport elements and a turning device and which, as required, after the printing of a front side feeds the single sheets to the printing station once again for the printing of the reverse side. The printing channel is followed by a paper-transport channel system having paper-transport elements and with a separate duplex channel and simplex channel for the separate transport of the single sheets printed on both sides or on one side into a common output channel with a second turning station for the duplex sheets.

  • Patent number: 5018724
Abstract: A multi-channel arrangement for measuring weak magnetic fields in living tissues, and for localizing the current sources which cause the magnetic fields by evaluating the topical magnetic values measured by individual sensors of the apparatus mounted in a vertically adjustable fashion to a patient support, the patient support being longitudinally and transversely adjustable, has a bicycle ergometer disposed at a foot end of the patient support, the bicycle ergometer consisting exclusively of components which are nonmagnetic and which do not generate a magnetic field. The bicycle ergometer is used by an examination subject so that signals can be obtained by the subject at rest and at a defined exertion level. The bicycle ergometer is mounted and constructed so that the examination subject can operate the ergometer after being positioned in a fixed position on the support.

  • Patent number: 4974602
Abstract: In an arrangement for analyzing local bioelectric currents in biological tissue complexes, electrical signals measured by EEG and/or MEG sensors are supplied to a pattern recognition unit in which defined signal patterns are acquired and are provided with time markings to produce "templates." The templates are forwarded to a correlation unit which compares the continuous measured values to the templates, and calculates a correlation coefficient based on the comparison. A threshold definition unit identifies signal patterns from the continuously measured signal which transgress the threshold, and supplies the threshold-transgressing signal patterns to a comparison unit which compares the correlated signal to the threshold-transgressing signal. Signal patterns are selected based on this comparison which are temporally and spatially identical, and are supplied to an averaging unit, which forms temporal averages of the selected signal patterns.

  • Patent number: 4971060
Abstract: An apparatus worn by a patient to provide a geometric reference for medical diagnostic data obtained from the patient has an element rigidly attachable to the patient, this element being connected to other components which emit a known and recognizable signal during the acquisition of medical diagnostic data, those components being used to establish a geometric reference for the data obtained from the patient. In one embodiment, a bite-down plate having a shape corresponding to the dentition of the patient is held in the mouth of the patient, and is connected to a rigid carrier having markings for geometrically referencing a tomographic image. In another embodiment, the worn element is a rigid ring worn by the patient as a headband, having a number of length-variable indicators, each of which having a scale, and also being connected to a member having a recognizable shape, or having markings, for a reference in tomographic imaging.

  • Patent number: 4955389
Abstract: The apparatus serves for triggering optically evoked responses in the patient, and the response is acquired by means of a measuring equipment. The apparatus comprises a stimulation signal generator having a surface on which an optical stimulation signal is displayed, a waveguide having a first end and a second end, a first lens system for imaging the signal on the surface into the first end of the waveguide, a second lens system arranged at the second end for imaging the image at the second end onto a presentation surface and a mount for mounting the second lens system and presentation surface a fixed distance from the patient's eyes. In order to reduce possible magnetic interference with the measuring equipment, at least the mount, the second lens system and the waveguide are formed of non-magnetic material.

  • Patent number: 4921198
Abstract: A holding mechanism for vertically positioning a measuring cryostat relative to a patient includes a pair of spaced, vertically-extending columns, which are preferably connected at their upper ends by a cross member, each of said columns has a box vertically movable along the column. The two boxes are interconnected by a shackle which is mounted at each end for rotation on the boxes, and the shackle includes an arrangement for mounting the cryostat on the shackle which allows pivoting of the cryostat in a plane of the shackle. Thus, the structure allows for both rotating the cryostat around an axis around a point and pivoting in a plane extending perpendicular to the direction of rotation around the same point. In addition, the mechanism enables vertically positioning the point relative to a patient or other object.

  • Patent number: 4889124
Abstract: A biomagnetic measuring installation has a chamber formed by a number of spaced layers of mumetal within which a measuring cryostat and a patient support table are disposed. The chamber is contained within a room. The installation is supported on a foundation base, which is in turn seated on a sand bed. The layers of the base of the chamber have recesses therein through which a first set of posts extend from the foundation into the chamber, to which a frame which supports the measuring cryostat is secured. A second set of posts extends from the foundation into the chamber to which the patient support is secured. Mechanical vibrations emanating from the patient, or from an attendant walking on the base of the chamber are transmitted to the measuring cryostat only through the very large and thus inert mass of the foundation base. The same is true for external mechanical jolts. As a result, the measured results have a low sensitivity to mechanical influences.
