Abstract: A method of implementing common interest community services in a presence system comprising creating a common interest community in which an interest state of a presence message is aggregated into a group in the presence system, publishing a member presence information to the common interest community to be selectively made available to a subscribing member of the common interest community and subscribing to the common interest community for receiving the member presence information, wherein a publishing member may selectively grant an access level.

Abstract: To obtain a topology of the available spare links in a telecommunications network provisioned with a distributed restoration algorithm, messages containing the appropriate identifications of the nodes and the ports of the nodes to which spare links are connected are exchanged continuously along the spare links of the network. When a failure is detected, the origin node can retrieve the various messages, and from data contained therein, to construct a topology of the available spare links of the network which can then be used for finding an alternate route for rerouting the traffic disrupted by the failure.

Abstract: In a path-based distributed restoration algorithm provisioned telecommunications network, the origin and destination nodes of a failed path are apprised of the portions of the path that remain intact by “reuse” messages that are sent from the custodial nodes that are adjacent to the failure. As each reuse message reaches an intermediate node, the node ID of the intermediate node is appended to a field of the message so that, as the reuse messages are propagated along the intact portions of the failed path, a cumulative list of nodes that are encountered by the messages passing from the custodial nodes to the origin and destination nodes is set forth. Thus, the origin/destination node, when in receipt of a reuse message, can read from the field that has the cumulative list of nodes a description of the intact portions remaining from the original path.
