Abstract: A data stream transmitting and receiving method and apparatus guaranteeing quality of service (QoS), in which the data stream transmitting method includes obtaining information regarding a link characteristic change of a mobile node, which occurs due to a handover of the mobile node between heterogeneous links, and transmitting the data stream to the mobile node based on the obtained information. Accordingly, even when the handover of the mobile node between heterogeneous links is performed, QoS of the data stream can be guaranteed.

Abstract: A method of and apparatus for constructing a user profile using a content tag, a method of recommending digital content by using a user profile including a tag included in the digital content and a preference value for the tag. According to the methods and apparatus, a user profile is generated by using a content tag, and thus the taste of the user according to digital content consumption can be expressed in more varied ways. Also, by suggesting a method of generating a tag from web content, construction of a user profile for digital content having no tag is enabled. Furthermore, a tag extracted from digital content used by a user is included in a profile and it can be used for a variety of purposes, such as expansion of a comparison scope, use of preference keywords, providing of content links, and expansion of search scope.

Abstract: A quality of service (QoS) securing apparatus and method using a communication protocol is provided. The QoS securing method is performed by a reception side that is receiving data from a transmission side. The method includes generating information about a changed communication environment according to a change in a communication environment of the reception side, and transmitting the information to the transmission side. An exchange of information about a communication environment using the communication protocol between the reception side and the transmission side can inform the transmission side about resources of the reception side, link characteristics, characteristics of a link on a transmission path, etc., thereby securing a QoS of data communication between the reception side and the transmission side.

Abstract: An apparatus and method relates to transmission of media independent (MIH) handover protocol information, the access point includes a wired interface module to receive, through a wired network, indication information indicating whether an access point that manages a neighboring heterogeneous subnet supports a protocol to conduct a media independent handover (MIH), a storage module to store the received indication information, a frame generating module to generate a frame including the stored indication information, and a wireless interface module to transmit the generated frame to a mobile node.

Abstract: A method of performing handover using subnet information includes: comparing subnet information for the current PoA with subnet information for the new PoA; and determining a layer in which handover is performed, according to whether the subnet information for the current PoA is equal to the subnet information for the new PoA, and performing handover in the determined layer. By comparing subnet information received before a mobile node moves with subnet information received after the mobile node moves, and thus quickly determining whether a change between subnets occurs, and by determining a layer in which handover is performed on the basis of the determination result, it is possible to efficiently perform handover.

Abstract: A method of adjusting quality of service (QoS) with respect to changes in a transmission environment of a mobile terminal receiving data based on a stream control transmission protocol (SCTP) session. When the transmission environment of the mobile terminal receiving data based on the SCTP session changes, the mobile terminal transmits link information indicating a new transmission environment to a destination node, and the destination node adjusts the quality of data or the size of a transmission window based on the link information. Thus, without adding separate network devices, the QoS of the data being transmitted can be adjusted with respect to the changed transmission environment, only by adding functions with software to the transmission terminal and the reception terminal. Also, since the destination node manually adjusts the transmission window according to the link information, packet loss can be minimized compared to the conventional congestion control method.

Abstract: A method and apparatus perform a handover of a mobile node with a decreased latency that occurs when the mobile node performs an Internet protocol (IP) configuration. The method of performing a handover of a mobile node includes: when the mobile node is connected to a network before the handover is performed, receiving first information on an IP configuration method to be used in a new network after the handover is performed from an information server (IS); when the mobile node is connected to the new network, receiving second information on the IP configuration method of the new network from a point of attachment (PoA) of the new network; determining whether the first information and the second information are identical; and, if it is determined that the first and second information are identical, performing an IP configuration according to the first information.

Abstract: Provided are a method and an apparatus for predicting a preference rating for content, and a method and an apparatus for selecting sample content in order to predict a preference rating for the content. In the method of predicting a preference rating for the content, a list of users having similar preferences to a target user is extracted from content usage information collected with respect to the same content, and the target user's preference rating for the content is predicted by applying preference rating information of the users with similar preferences to a machine learning algorithm.

Abstract: Provided are an efficient handover apparatus and method in a mobile node. In the method in which a handover is performed in a mobile node which establishes a data communication through a point of attachment (PoA), the method including receiving information regarding capabilities of a new PoA; determining whether Internet protocol version 6 (IPv6) prefix is available at the new PoA, based on the information regarding the capabilities of the new PoA; and generating an address which is to be used by the mobile node in a data communication with the new PoA, according to a method determined based on whether IPv6 prefix is available at the new PoA. Thus, it is possible to determine whether IPv6 prefix is available at a new point of attachment prior to receiving a router advertisement (RA) message.

The apparatus includes: an input unit to receive a command to request a search for a wireless LAN available in a designated location from a user; a packet generating unit to generate an information request packet according to the received command; a communicating unit to transmit the generated information request packet and to receive a result of the requested search for the available wireless LAN, in response to the transmitted information request packet; and a display unit to display the received result of the search.
