    Abstract: A fast handover apparatus, method, and medium for performing a fast handover in a wireless LAN environment. The fast handover method includes (a) determining whether a beacon signal input from an access point (AP) to a mobile node (MN) contains border information indicating that the AP is located at the border of its subnet, the AP connecting the MN to a wired network; and (b) selectively performing a handover between subnets based on the determination results obtained in (a). Accordingly, unnecessary communications between an MN and an AR are prevented by providing predetermined information, based on which the MN can determine whether to perform only an L2 handover or both the L2 handover and an L3 handover.

    Abstract: A technology of detecting MIHP information before an OSI layer 3 process is performed. A method of performing Media Independent Handover (MIH) includes analyzing a field for indicating Internet Protocol (IP) version information, if a value of the field for indicating IP version information corresponds to an MIH layer, performing a process of the MIH layer and performing a process of an IP layer, and if a value of the field for indicating IP version information does not correspond to the MIH layer, directly performing the process of the IP layer. Accordingly, an IP layer that is the third layer of the OSI 7 layers can determine without performing a separate operation whether an MIH process is performed. Thus, a delay of a processing speed of a device can be prevented, resulting in an increase of QoS of a network.

The system includes a domain name service server, a mobile node that moves to a different network, a domain name dynamic updating server, and a correspondent node. The domain name service server manages domain names and address of a plurality of mobile nodes. Once the domain name dynamic update server receives a message including the created address by the mobile node, the domain name dynamic update server updates domain name and address of the mobile node that are registered in the domain name service server using the domain name and address contained in the received message. The correspondent node connects to the domain name service server, obtains the updated address of the mobile node, and transmits a packet to the mobile node using the obtained address.

A global ID is generated using unique information on an UPnP device and an interface device and the IPv6 ULA is generated using the global ID, thereby generating the IPv6 ULA having uniqueness in an entire IPv6 address system without an NTP.
