  • Patent number: 7748749
Abstract: For connection of pipelines which are subject to vibration, for example pipelines in vehicle exhaust systems, a liquid-tight decoupling element is used which includes a, e.g. multi-layer wound, metal hose and a tube accommodated in coaxial relationship inside or outside of the metal hose. A first axial fitting firmly secures one end of the tube. The tube is sized to protrude into a second axial fitting, regardless whether the metal hose is completely compressed or completely stretched, to allow movement of the tube in axial and torsional directions in relation to the second axial fitting.

  • Publication number: 20100007138
Abstract: A hose connector, in particular for exhaust pipes of motor vehicles includes a flexible line element, for example a metal bellows which is supported at one end face in the support member of an attachment carrier with torsional degree of freedom. A tension element is provided by which the line element can be maintained under pretension against the support member of the attachment carrier.

  • Patent number: 7571745
Abstract: For connection of exhaust system pipe work, which is subject to vibration, a typical example of an application being in vehicle exhaust systems, a gas-tight decoupling element produced from stripwound hoses is used, which consists of two coaxially arranged, multi-layer stripwound metal hoses and axial edge elements. These elements form an annular cavity between the two stripwound hoses with a suitable pneumatic connection which is pressurized in the operating condition using ambient air or cleaned exhaust gas, the pressure being as high or higher than the dynamic pressure which is built up in the inside cylindrical exhaust system cavity as a result of exhaust gas flow.

  • Publication number: 20080264509
Abstract: A diaphragm bellows includes a spiral-wound, pre-profiled metal strip having neighboring turns which are connected by a continuous welding seam in an area of an outer diameter or inner diameter of the metal strip. Neighboring flanks of the metal strip enter a region of the welding seam at an angle of less than 60°.

  • Publication number: 20080245435
Abstract: A tube is made of profiled metal strip which includes an end leg extending in parallel relationship to a tube axis, an inner leg extending in parallel relationship to the tube axis at a first distance, and an outer leg extending in parallel relationship to the tube axis at a second distance which is greater than the first distance. The inner leg is connected with the outer leg by a transition. A double-folded loop hook extends radially for connecting the end leg with one member from the group consisting of the inner leg and the outer leg, and an end hook extends radially and is connected to the other member of this group.

  • Publication number: 20080041482
Abstract: The invention relates to a metal tube arrangement (1) for exhaust pipes of motor vehicles, which typically includes an inner tube (10) with hook or interlock connection as well as a bellows-like an outer tube (20). The inner tube (10) and the outer tube (20) are hereby connected to one another at regular distances along their extension. In particular, they can be coupled to one another via a helically revolving roll seam weld (30). The outer tube (20) is preferably made of two layers from a wound metal strip (21).

  • Publication number: 20060278291
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a pipe element (1) for pipes that are subject to vibrating stress, especially for exhaust pipes in motor vehicles. Said pipe element consists of a preprofiled strip (2; 3), especially a metal strip, that is wound in convolutions with bellow-shaped windings (4; 22). The wound layers produced by a strip width are interlinked in a single-hooked or multi-layer clasp-type bond (9; 19) by positive locking, welding or similar joining methods. The Strip (2; 3) is preprofiled with at least one stitch that is off-set from the plane by deflection into a kind of circuit with web heights (h1, h2) of the bellows (4; 22) that are multiples of the strip thickness.
