  • Patent number: 8565102
Abstract: The transmission output of two channels of a first link is adjusted so that data from the first link is simultaneously transmitted by two channels. The transmission outputs of the two channels are adjusted to a common value which is dependent upon the value of a quality parameter of the data transmission of the first channel and the value of a quality parameter of the data transmission of the second channel.

  • Patent number: 8351360
Abstract: When a request is sent by a switching unit, relating to the use of at least one subset of a codec mode configuration for the establishment of a transcoder-free operation connection by a radio network controller, it is checked whether the at least one requested subset is supported by the radio network controller. If the at least one subset of at least one codec mode configuration is supported, a transcoder-free operation connection to the switching unit and to the communication terminal is established by the radio network controller. Furthermore, a message relating to the at least one subset of the codec mode configuration to be used is signalled from the radio network controller to the communication terminal for the transmission of data.

  • Patent number: 7865208
Abstract: First of all, data (D) of the link is transmitted via a first channel (CH1), while the quality of the data transmission is adjusted by correspondingly varying output power (P). Data (D) of the link is then transmitted via a second channel (CH2), wherein the output power (P) is initially set to a value (P2) which is dependent upon the value (P1) of the output power at the end of transmission via the first channel (CH1) and upon a modification of the reception conditions of the link during the changeover from the first channel (CH1) to the second channel (CH2).

  • Patent number: 7333805
Abstract: In a cellular radio communication system that supports in each of its cells a plurality of different codec modes for the purpose of radio transmission, the terminals working in a cell and a base station of the cell refer to the information relating to the use of codec modes as CM information. The extent of use of the individual codec modes is registered by filtering the pieces of CM information from the data traffic of the cell and collecting them in a memory in cell-related statistics.

  • Patent number: 7020483
Abstract: A method is provided for transmission power control and a radio communications system having at least one first and one second station which communicate with each other, wherein a receiving one of the stations determines the reception power of a signal which is sent from the other station, and the transmitting station transmits a power control instruction, with the receiving station using a signal which is independent of communication data in order to determine the power control instruction.

  • Patent number: 6885875
Abstract: According to the invention, transmissions of the second radio station are received in the first radio station in which the operating instruction for transmission power of the second radio station is determined. The operating instruction is transmitted during a following transmission of the first radio station to the second radio station, whereupon the latter takes into account the operating instruction for power regulation during one of its following transmissions. Contrary to prior art, no time invariable or fixed step size is used. An operating instruction is used instead which is related to a variable step size in transmission power regulation. The variable step size is subscriber-dependent and time-dependent regulated by the radio stations.

  • Publication number: 20040128095
Abstract: To adapt the timing advance of a mobile terminal during synchronous handover from a first to a second base station of a radio communications system, a time delay between time standard received by the terminal from the two base stations is measured. A timing advance value that is used by the terminal prior to handover for transmission to the first base station is corrected using the measured time delay. The corrected timing advance value is reduced by a value derived from the accuracy of the synchronicity of the two base station and is used as the timing advance value for transmission to the second base station.

  • Publication number: 20030103469
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for controlling the transmission power requirements in a time division duplex wireless telecommunication system. The method uses the size of the data and Midamble in a burst and the change in rate matching to control the transmission power.

  • Publication number: 20030003875
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling the transmission power in a communications system, especially in a mobile radio telepone system, comprising at least one mobile sition (UE) and at least one base station (NB) communicating therewith. The invention also relates to a communications system for carrying out said method. The aim of the invention is to allow for improved power control when the communications connection is interrupted. The receiving station uses a signal (BCH) for detecting power control instructions (TPC-Bit), whereby said signal is independent from communications data.

  • Patent number: 6445910
Abstract: A radio diversity method in which a first received signal is received by a first antenna and a second received signal is received by a second antenna. The first received signal and the second received signal are converted from an analog format to a digital format. Digital signal values are in each case detected, with quality levels being defined in each case for the digital signal values. An evaluation device evaluates the quality levels and, depending on the evaluation result, passes on only portions of the digital signal values for subsequent combination. This reduces the data rate that needs to be transmitted, for example, during a soft hand over.

  • Patent number: 6405020
Abstract: A method for voice transmission via a radio interface in a digital radio communication system includes the step of transmitting at least one signal between a base station of a base station system and a radio station. At least one characteristic value relating to the transmission conditions of the radio interface is determined from this signal. The characteristic value is stored in at least one storage device and is taken into account at a later point in time in addition to currently determined characteristic values for a voice and channel coding on the transmitter side. A base station system for voice transmission via a radio interface in a digital radio communication system is also provided.

  • Patent number: 6349197
Abstract: A speech coder/decoder can select a broadband and a narrowband speech coding method. For a connection to a mobile station, a monitoring of transmission possibilities is performed, and, given limited transmission possibilities, there is a changeover from broadband to narrowband speech coding methods. The received narrowband speech information is expanded to a greater bandwidth at the receive side. The subjective speech impression is improved by the bridging of this changeover effect. This guarantees an improved speech quality to the listener, particularly with the introduction of adaptive multirate coding.
