  • Patent number: 11877228
Abstract: Methods, systems, and storage media are provided for user equipment (UE) that supports enhanced coverage and may operate with a voice centric usage setting or a data centric usage setting. When the UE's usage setting is set to voice centric, the UE may not operate in coverage enhancement (CE) mode B. When the UE's usage setting is set to data centric, then the UE may operate in CE mode B. The UE may indicate the UE's usage setting in an Attach or Tracking Area Update (TAU) request message, and a mobility management entity (MME) may indicate to an evolved NodeB that CE mode B is restricted or not restricted based on the usage setting. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

  • Patent number: 11172371
Abstract: Machines or networked devices such as internet of things (IoT) devices operate to generate an unlicensed narrowband (U-NB) IoT communication based on time domain multiple carrier aggregation operations with component carriers. These component carriers can comprise a component carrier that is anchored to a long term evolution (LTE) licensed band, or entirely comprise unlicensed carrier components that are unanchored to the LTE component carrier in a standalone configuration. Communication circuitry such as a radio frequency interface can transmit the U-NB IoT communication in standalone communications over a low power IoT network in an unlicensed band.

  • Publication number: 20190379468
Abstract: Various embodiments are generally directed to techniques for channel state determination, such as, for instance, determining one or more channel state parameters for a wireless communication channel between a user equipment (UE) and a base station in a mobile network. Some embodiments are particularly directed to a radio access network (RAN) control system that determines one or more channel state parameters for wireless communication channels in a RAN portion of a mobile network based on propagation data in a channel state base (CSB) database. For example, propagation behavior of a wireless communication channel between a UE and a base station may be calculated by the radio access KSPCS based, at least in part, on propagation data in the CSB database and a physical location of the UE.

  • Patent number: 10110265
Abstract: A method (100) in a network node serving a User Equipment (UE) capable of network assisted interference cancellation is disclosed. The method involves a signaling (104) of an indication to the UE indicating whether the UE should enable or disable (108) the network assisted interference cancellation, or whether the UE should autonomously choose (110) to enable or disable the network assisted interference cancellation. The enabling or disabling is done for at least one of demodulating the downlink channel or computing the channel state information. The method further involves a receiving (106) of information from the UE about whether the network assisted interference cancellation has been used by the UE for at least one of demodulating the downlink channel and computing the channel state information. A related method in a UE is also disclosed, together with the network node and the UE as such.

  • Patent number: 10064214
Abstract: A method and system to reduce a probability of incorrect interruption of an uplink transmission of a wireless device are disclosed. According to one aspect, decoding of a sequence of bits obtained from a signal received by the wireless device is performed without knowing whether the sequence corresponds to one of a grant for uplink transmission and noise. Decoding of the sequence of bits is performed to determine a probability metric associated with a first m bits of the sequence, where m is an integer greater than 1. The probability metric is compared to a threshold. The received signal is interpreted as having a grant sequence if the probability metric is greater than the threshold. The received signal is interpreted as noise if the probability metric is not greater than the threshold.

  • Patent number: 9906328
Abstract: A technology is disclosed for decoding a received signal at a wireless device. A first receiving process is performed comprising a decoding of the signal giving a first decoded result. It is determined if the first decoded result is correctly decoded. If so, the first decoded result is provided for downstream processing. If not, a second receiving process is performed comprising a decoding of the received signal for providing a second decoded result; and the second decoded result is provided for downstream processing. Further, either the first or second receiving process performs a blind detection of the transmission properties of an interfering signal and performs an interference cancellation thereupon.
