Publication number: 20220075051Abstract: The present invention provides an in-vehicle passenger detection system and method using an Ultra-Wide Band radar. The present invention processes the values collected using an Ultra-Wide Band radar in the time domain, so that it is possible to detect passengers in a vehicle faster than the time required to process the collected values in the frequency domain using a conventional Ultra-Wide Band radar. Also, the present invention detects a large motion, such as a passenger's hand or foot movement in a vehicle, and a small motion, such as a passenger breathing quietly, using separate data processing procedures, respectively, so that faster and more accurate passenger detection is possible.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 12, 2019Publication date: March 10, 2022Applicant: YURA CORPORATION CO.,LTD.Inventors: Sung Chul WOO, Jong Seok LIM

Patent number: 9581688Abstract: A pulse radar apparatus is disclosed. The pulse radar apparatus includes a pulse generation unit, a receiver unit, a synchronization unit, and a switch unit. The pulse generation unit generates a pulse based on a transmission trigger signal having a transmission pulse repetition period, and sends the pulse to a target via a transmission antenna. The synchronization unit generates the transmission trigger signal using an external reference clock, provides the transmission trigger signal to the pulse generation unit, and generates a plurality of clock signals having a time delay with respect to the transmission pulse trigger signal using the external reference clock. The switch unit selects any one clock signal from the plurality of clock signals in response to an external selection signal, and provides the selected clock signal to a receiver unit which utilizes a sampler with provided sampling clocks.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2014Date of Patent: February 28, 2017Assignee: ELECTRONICS AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS RESEARCH INSTITUTEInventors: Pil-Jae Park, Cheon-Soo Kim, Seong-Do Kim, Sung-Chul Woo

Patent number: 8754806Abstract: A pulse radar receiver includes a power splitter configured to split a transmit (TX) trigger signal for generating a TX pulse, a phase-locked loop (PLL) configured to receive a division ratio and the TX trigger signal split by the power splitter, and generate a sampling frequency, and a sampler configured to sample a reflected wave received through an RX antenna, according to the sampling frequency generated by the PLL. Accordingly, it is possible to provide a high distance resolution by generating a sampling frequency with a difference from a TX pulse to sample a reflected wave received through an RX antenna. Thus, it is possible to overcome a limitation in the distance resolution due to the pulse width and to measure a minute movement at a short distance. Therefore, the pulse radar receiver is applicable to high range resolution radar applications such as a living body measuring radar.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 2011Date of Patent: June 17, 2014Assignee: Electronics and Telecommunications Research InstituteInventors: Pil Jae Park, Seong Do Kim, Sung Chul Woo, Hyun Kyu Yu

Patent number: 8737554Abstract: Disclosed is a pulse-signal recovering device with a time-interleaving scheme. Exemplary embodiments of the present invention can improve receive performance of a radar so as to shorten pre-scanning time for roughly determining presence and absence of objects and time consumed to recover received pulse signals in the radar receiver with the sub-sampling scheme by simultaneously sensing signal levels of the received pulse signals at several positions and improve a signal to noise ratio by increasing an averaging rate with respect to the number of same received pulses.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2011Date of Patent: May 27, 2014Assignee: Electronics and Telecommunications Research InstituteInventors: Seong-Do Kim, Pil Jae Park, Sung Chul Woo, Hyun Kyu Yu
