    Abstract: A printer server connectable to a plurality of printers includes a receiver for receiving print data from an external apparatus, a first discrimination unit for discriminating a representation by which the received print data is described, and a selection unit for selecting, from the plurality of printers, a printer to print an image corresponding to the received print data. A second discrimination unit of the printer server discriminates whether the selected printer is capable of processing print data in the discriminated representation. When the selected printer is not capable of processing print data in the discriminated representation, a controller of the printer sever converts the received print data into print data in another representation and transmits the print data in the other representation. The controller transmits print data in the discriminated representation when the selected printer is capable of processing print data in the discriminated representation.

    Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to output a color-designated character code or line drawing to a visual image output device by efficiently and rapidly converting the character code or line drawing into color space data which depends on the visual image output device. To achieve this object, a code based on PDL is transmitted when document image data formed by, e.g., desk top publishing is output to a visual image output device such as a color printer. If the received code is a character or a graphic, R, G, and B color codes contained in the code are converted into Y, M, and C data. All significant bits of data, having one bit per dot, generated on the basis of the character code, are converted by the Y, M, and C data at once.

    Abstract: A scroll fluid machine having a lubrication pump provided between sliding contact surfaces of an orbiting scroll member and a thrust bearing in a casing. The pump has an orbiting member accommodating recess provided in the sliding contact surface of the thrust bearing. An orbiting member projects from the sliding contact surface of the orbiting scroll member into the recess. A slide plate defines a suction chamber and a discharge chamber in the recess. As the orbiting scroll member orbits, the orbiting member orbits in the recess, causing a lubricant contained in the casing to be sucked from a suction passage and delivered to the inside of a boss portion accommodating an orbiting bearing.

    Abstract: In an image processing apparatus and method, a color copying interface supports unique compression mode and standard compression mode. If a color work station accepts only data compressed in the standard mode, unique-mode compressed data is converted to standard-mode compressed data, and then the standard-mode compressed data is transmitted together with a compression parameter to the partner computer. The amount of input data is counted by a counter, and the amount of compressed data stored in a compression memory is counted by another counter. Compression parameters used by a compression circuit are selected based on the count values of the two counters.
