  • Patent number: 6615943
Abstract: A speed adjusting system for vehicles includes an accelerator, such as a throttle pedal, a speed adjusting device, such as a throttle or a fuel injection pump, which is adjustable by operating the accelerator, and a control unit which is connected to the accelerator and which is settable between a first operating position, in which the accelerator is operable without difficulty, and a second operating position, in which the accelerator is operable with difficulty. The second operating position constitutes a basic state of the control unit, the difficulty, with which the accelerator is operable when the control unit is arranged in the basic state, appearing as a resistance which is generated by the control unit and acts on the accelerator and which must be overcome for operating the accelerator and which clearly exceeds the resistance that exists for operating a conventional accelerator.

  • Patent number: 6210424
Abstract: The present invention relates to a surgical device (1) comprising: an elongate, flexible and tubular arm (3) having a distal end and a proximal end; a flexible pulling means (6) which is arranged inside the arm (3); a tool (4) which is arranged at the distal end of the arm (3) and which comprises at least two parts (11,12), which are operable by said pulling means (6); and an operating means (15) which is arranged at the proximal end of the arm to operate said pulling means (6) and, thus, said tool (4). The invention is characterised in that said arm (3) is made of a material, which resumes its shape by heating and which has a transformation temperature which allows the arm (3) to be deformable to the desired shape at room temperature and to keep the thus obtained shape at a patient's body temperature during use of the device (1), so as then to allow resumption of its original shape when exposed to a temperature exceeding the body temperature.

  • Patent number: 5957811
Abstract: The invention relates to a single-pedal system for controlling the speed of the engine and the braking effect in a motor vehicle. A pedal holder (1) is mounted for movement from a resting position for effecting braking of the vehicle. A pedal (3) is moveably supported on the pedal holder (1) for controlling the speed of the engine of the vehicle. A returning means is arranged to return the pedal holder (1) to the resting position. A locking means (10) is arranged to hold, in a non-braking state of function of the system, the pedal holder (1) in its resting position and, when passing to a braking state of function of the system, to release the pedal holder (1) from the resting position if a compressive force exceeding a predetermined value is applied to the latter.

  • Patent number: 5611792
Abstract: A valve device to enable aseptic injection and withdrawal of medical fluids into/from an infusion container. The valve device comprises a valve body with self-sealing passage portion (2), a surrounding portion (3) and a peripheral portion (4), and has an adhesive application surface (5). Located at the underside of the passage portion is a pressure relief zone (6), and at the upper side an insert zone (7). The surrounding portion (3) has a pronounced upright edge. The valve device is manufactured in one piece of the same material and can be simply applied and handled on the occasion of use while retaining aseptic conditions even by persons of impaired sight.
