    Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling the fluid pumping rate of an internal combustion engine driven pumping means taking suction from a zone of fluid under pressure whereby a substantially constant fluid pressure is maintained within said zone. The vacuum produced by the internal combustion engine is utilized to change the speed of the engine and the vacuum level is varied in proportion to changes in the pressure of fluid in said zone.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling the liquid pumping rate of an internal combustion engine driven pump taking suction from a surge tank whereby a substantially constant level of liquid is maintained within the surge tank. The vacuum produced by the internal combustion engine is utilized to change the speed of the engine and the vacuum level is varied in proportion to changes in the level of liquid in the surge tank.
