Patent number: 9592755Abstract: The time until a headrest contacts the head of an occupant in the event of a rear collision is shortened with a simple configuration. In a seat device, a stay (46) (including grommets (22)) is set with bending rigidity towards the vehicle front lower than the bending rigidity towards the vehicle rear. Accordingly, when the headrest oscillates in the event of a vehicle rear collision, the headrest is initially displaced towards the vehicle rear, however the headrest changes direction in a short time and begins to be displaced towards the vehicle front. Moreover, there is a large displacement of the headrest towards the vehicle front since the stay (46) (including the grommets (22)) has a lower bending rigidity towards the vehicle front than the bending rigidity towards the vehicle rear. The time until the headrest contacts the head (H) of the occupant can accordingly be shortened.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2012Date of Patent: March 14, 2017Assignee: NHK SPRING CO., LTD.Inventors: Masami Takayama, Atsushi Kageyama, Ken Okura, Junichi Nakano, Nozomu Munemura, Kensuke Nagai, Tadanori Hisamoto

Patent number: 9555724Abstract: A favorable appearance can be achieved using a simple configuration, even when the configuration is provided with a back shell that moves up and down relative to a back frame. In a vehicle seat 10, the back of a seated person is adapted to be supported by a movable back shell 42 that is supported so as to be capable of moving in an up-down direction relative to a back frame 30. A non-movable back shell 46 that is attached so as to be incapable of displacement relative to the back frame 30 is disposed on a back face side of the movable back shell 42, and the back frame 30 is covered by the non-movable back shell 46.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 2012Date of Patent: January 31, 2017Assignee: NHK Spring Co., Ltd.Inventors: Shinji Uehara, Tadanori Hisamoto, Masumi Yoda, Tsunekazu Kanno

Publication number: 20140132048Abstract: In a seat device, a stay including grommets is set with bending rigidity towards the vehicle front lower than the bending rigidity towards the vehicle rear. Moreover, there is a large displacement of the headrest towards the vehicle front since the stay including the grommets has a lower bending rigidity towards the vehicle front than the bending rigidity towards the vehicle rear. The headrest can be promptly displaced towards the side of the head of the occupant due to setting the bending rigidity of the stay including the grommets, thereby enabling the time until the headrest contacts the head of the occupant to be shortened with a simple configuration.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 13, 2012Publication date: May 15, 2014Applicant: NHK SPRING CO., LTD.Inventors: Masami Takayama, Atsushi Kageyama, Ken Okura, Junichi Nakano, Nozomu Munemura, Kensuke Nagai, Tadanori Hisamoto

Patent number: 7328916Abstract: In a knee protection system according to the present invention, a knee protection panel is driven from a standby position surrounded by an interior member to the vehicle rear side to a knee-protecting position in front of the knees of an occupant by a drive mechanism when the vehicle is crashing, whereby the knees moving forward are protected by the knee protection panel thus driven. The drive mechanism includes a holding portion for holding the knee protection panel in such a manner that the knee protection panel is moved rearward. Engagement portions are provided, respectively, at locations where the holding portion and the knee protection panel connect with each other in such a manner as to be brought into engagement with each other.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 2005Date of Patent: February 12, 2008Assignees: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki Kaisha, NHK Spring Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hiroyuki Tajima, Takahiko Sato, Akiyoshi Nagano, Masakazu Hashimoto, Osamu Fukawatase, Takeaki Kato, Hiroyoshi Yamaguchi, Tadanori Hisamoto, Shinichi Horibata

Patent number: 7152881Abstract: An actuator of an active knee bolster is provided with a drive force generation device and a one way lock mechanism that is disposed in a vicinity of an operation end of the drive force generation device. The one way lock mechanism is configured such that, if attempted movement of a piston member in an inward insertion direction occurs, respective engagement portions are moved to a taper portion by urging force of a spring, whereby the engagement portions are abutted against an external periphery surface of the piston member such that the piston member and the engagement portions are fixed. Accordingly, as a result of the one way lock mechanism, a main body of the active knee bolster that has been moved to a restraining position cannot return in a vehicle forward direction, and thus it is possible to generate a substantial lower limb restraining force that restrains a lower limb of an occupant.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 2004Date of Patent: December 26, 2006Assignees: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki Kaisha, NHK Spring Co., Ltd.Inventors: Osamu Fukawatase, Takeaki Kato, Hiroyoshi Yamaguchi, Tadanori Hisamoto, Shinichi Horibata
