The method includes taking a photograph, transmitting a message including an image and an identifier of the photograph to a mobile terminal, receiving a response message including metadata and the identifier, determining an image file to be updated by using the identifier, and updating at least one metadata area of the image file with the metadata of the response message. The apparatus includes a message transmitting/receiving unit which transmits to a mobile device a message including an image and an identifier, and receiving a response message from the mobile terminal including metadata and the identifier. Abstract: A method, medium, and apparatus with estimation of background changes. The method includes generating an edge map based on a pre-learned background image, and calculating a value representing the similarity between a foreground image extracted from an input image and the generated edge map and estimating a background change in the input image based on the calculated value. Therefore, the method can reduce the effect of disturbances caused by the implementation environment of an image-based intrusion detection system and uncontrollable device defects, which, in turn, reduces false alarms.

According to the method and apparatus, a high detection ratio can be maintained, while a false alarm ratio with regard to meaningless motion can be lowered.
