  • Publication number: 20020030175
Abstract: A fuel supplying apparatus for maintaining a stable supply of a mixed water-methanol solution while preventing water from freezing in a cold climate, and for immediately supplying a mixed water-methanol gas that has a composition which is outside of the high-rate reaction region during the starting/stopping operation of the reformer when the control tends to be unstable. The methanol reforming apparatus that generates a hydrogen-rich gas by reacting a mixed gas of water, methanol and air on a catalyst is supplied with the fuel from a fuel supplying apparatus comprising a mixed water-methanol solution tank wherein the molar ratio of water and methanol used for reforming is controlled to a predetermined value, a mixed water-methanol solution tank wherein the molar ratio of water and methanol is controlled to 4.6 or higher, and a switching means that switches the mixed water-methanol solution tank used as a fuel source according to the conditions of operation of the methanol reforming apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20020003554
Abstract: The recording medium guide member is placed along the main scanning direction scanned by the carriage mounted with a recording head, and ink-receiver holes for receiving ink discharged from the recording head are formed on the guide member in positions beyond the edges of the recording medium being conveyed. Ink absorbing materials are placed in said ink-receiver holes, and a discharged ink accumulating means that cumulatively counts the amount of ink discharged into the ink absorbing materials is provided. The amount of ink discharged into the ink-receiver holes can be controlled by the discharged ink accumulation means so that contamination of the left and right edges or the top and bottom as well as left and right edges of the recording medium, caused by excessive ink collecting in the ink-receiver holes, can be avoided.

  • Publication number: 20010026305
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing an ink cartridge. The ink cartridge has a container having storage chambers and porous members for holding ink. The porous member is stored in the corresponding storage chambers. The container has ink supply ports for conducting ink from the storage chambers. Before insertion, each porous member is inclined relative to the storage chamber and inserted into the storage chamber through an opening of the container. Therefore, the porous members are easily inserted.

  • Patent number: 6139132
Abstract: A pressurizing chamber 1 is formed as a recess by half etching of a silicon single-crystal substrate 2. A nozzle communicating hole 6 through which the pressurizing chamber 1 is connected to a nozzle opening 5 is formed as a through hole which is smaller in width than the pressurizing chamber 1. The pressurizing chamber 1 is connected to the nozzle opening 5 in the other face via the nozzle communicating hole 6 while reducing the volume of the pressurizing chamber 1 to a degree as small as possible. The silicon single-crystal substrate is used as a member constituting a spacer so that an ink drop of a reduced ink amount suitable for high density printing files with high positioning accuracy.

  • Patent number: 6048052
Abstract: In an ink recording head having at least four nozzle opening rows, each row having nozzle openings so as to extend straightly in a sheet forward direction, the nozzle opening rows are staggered by a single dot in the sheet forward direction in an order different from the physically arranged order. The maximum distance between nozzle opening rows to print vertically adjacent dots becomes smaller by L1 or L2 than at least the physical maximum distance L1+L3+L2, L1 or L2 being a distance between the outermost nozzle opening row and the inner nozzle opening row. As a result, the relative displacement in the vertical direction can be reduced by such distance L1 or L2 compared with a recording head in which nozzle opening rows are sequentially staggered in the auxiliary scanning direction in the physically arranged order.

  • Patent number: 5956058
Abstract: An ink jet printer head includes a spacer including pressure generating chambers continuous to nozzle openings, ink supply paths, and reservoirs, a cover member for covering the pressure generating chambers in a sealing fashion, and pressure generating means for generating pressure in the pressure generating chambers in accordance with print data. In processing a silicon single-crystal substrate vertically oriented in (110) by anisotropic etching process, one of the walls of a path hole for forming a pressure generating chamber is aligned with one of the walls of a path hole for forming a reservoir. Walls defining the path hole for forming a pressure generating chamber, which are located in the vicinity of a nozzle opening, are connected to each other at an obtuse angle. As a result, the ink supply path serving as a narrow path for ink flow and the pressure generating chamber are formed as smooth flow paths.

  • Patent number: 5710584
Abstract: An ink jet recording head formed by laminating and fixing: a flow path forming plate having through holes for defining pressure producing chambers, ink supply inlets, and a common ink chamber, a nozzle plate having nozzle openings communicating with the pressure producing chambers, and a vibration plate having diaphragm portions that are resiliently deformed in response to displacement of piezoelectric vibration elements one upon another with an adhesive so as to be watertight. The vibration plate has frame-like thick wall portions that extend as far as to the ink supply inlet side of the pressure producing chamber as well as to the inner side of the nozzle opening, and portions closer to a piezoelectric vibration element than to both ends of the pressure producing chamber are made to be supported by a base. As a result of this construction, a nonsupported region of the pressure producing chamber can be shortened, which in turn improves the rigidity of a substrate unit as a whole.

  • Patent number: 5655362
Abstract: Selectively operable first and second exhaust valves are provided for every combustion chamber in an engine. Branch pipes of a first intake manifold are connected to first exhaust ports opened and closed by the first exhaust valves, and branch pipes of a second exhaust manifold are connected to second exhaust ports opened and closed by the second exhaust valves. An adsorbing trap is provided in an aggregated pipe of the first exhaust manifold and a catalytic converter is provided in a common exhaust pipe connected to the aggregated pipes of the first and second exhaust manifolds. Only the first exhaust valves are operated to open and close at a low temperature of the adsorbing trap to permit the exhaust gas to flow into the first exhaust manifold. Thus, hydrocarbons (HCs) in the exhaust gas are adsorbed into the adsorbing trap at the low temperature and the heat of the exhaust gas is effectively utilized to promote the activation of the catalytic converter.
