    Abstract: It is possible to solve the problem that a memory block of a group containing information frequently updated quickly reaches the rewrite service life end when the number of spare blocks prepared in a non-volatile semiconductor recording medium cannot be modified or when the memory block is divided into a plurality of groups so as to be processed alternately. The non-volatile semiconductor recording medium includes a partition management information area and a partition area. Partition area start position information is recorded in the partition management information area. The start position information contains a value assuring a predetermined area between the end of the partition management information area and the head of the partition area. The area assured between the end of the partition management information area and the head of the partition area is set to a state where data is physically erased.

    Abstract: A characteristic amount is retained and calculated from an entered video signal. Embedment intensity is retained and calculated from the retained characteristic amount. Embedment information is embedded as digital watermarks into the entered video signal in accordance with the retained embedment intensity of the previous frame or field that is located at a position earlier in time than a target image subject to digital watermark embedment. As a result, an output signal of video having the digital watermarks embedded therein is produced. The digital watermarks are embedded into the target image with reference to another image located at a position earlier in time than the target image. Such digital watermark embedment suppresses a delay in output of an output image with reference to an input image.

    Abstract: A digital watermarking apparatus inputs video or audio information and embeds digital watermark in the information, which is capable of preventing digital watermark or set values necessary for digital watermarking operation from being altered. The apparatus includes a verifying section, a decrypting section and a watermarking section. The verifying section verifies encrypted set values using verification data in set values which is added with verification data and encrypted together with verification data, and transmits the verification result to the watermarking section. The verifying section also transmits the encrypted set values which are verified to the decrypting section. The decrypting section decrypts the encrypted set values. The watermarking section embeds digital watermark in the information using the decrypted and verified set values to output it, when a verification result from the verifying section is normal.

In addition, the disk apparatus of the present invention, which uses a stepping motor is provided with a pulse rate pattern variable means, a pulse rate change proportion measuring means, and a driving voltage variable means, and when the pulse rate and the pulse rate change proportion are low, the driving voltage amplitude is lowered to reduce surplus torque generation in the stepping motor.
