Abstract: A crack measuring apparatus includes distance-measuring units, an image pickup unit having pixels the positions of which are identified on an imaging device, an infrared image pickup unit having pixels the positions of which are identified on an imaging device and having sensitivity to infrared rays, driving units, angle-measuring units, and an arithmetic control unit, the arithmetic control unit searches for a cracked portion from a temperature difference in an infrared image by turning the infrared image pickup unit, captures an image of the cracked portion by the image pickup unit and identifies a position of the cracked portion from a density difference in the captured image, measures the position of the cracked portion by the distance-measuring units and the angle-measuring units, and acquires three-dimensional absolute coordinates of the cracked portion.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for determining the sex of yellowtails, the method comprising a step of identifying whether an amino acid residue at position 143 in polypeptide encoded by the HSD17B1 gene of yellowtails is a glutamic acid residue or a glycine residue; a nucleic acid molecule or a primer set which is for use in said method; or a kit comprising the same, for determining the sex of yellowtails. The method according to the present invention is useful in that the genetic sex of yellowtails can be accurately determined.

Abstract: Natural Language Processing (NLP) is performed on a corpus using a processor and a memory to extract a set of facets corresponding to a dimension in a set of dimensions. Using a score threshold, a subset of the set of facets is selected where each facet in the set of facets has a corresponding score relative to the corpus. A subsequent query is formed by increasing a complexity of a previous query using a facet in the subset of facets. The subsequent query is executed on at least a portion of the corpus. The documents in a new result set are ranked, the new result set being in response to executing the subsequent query. An output is produced from the new result set, which includes a ranking of that subset of documents whose ranks have changed by more than a threshold rank distance from the corresponding ranks in the corpus.

Abstract: A door handle includes a door handle case and an electrostatic sensor provided in the door handle case. The electrostatic sensor includes a detection electrode that is formed of a flat conductor plate, or that is formed on a surface of a flat substrate or within a flat substrate. The detection electrode includes a middle portion in a longitudinal direction of the detection electrode and includes peripheral portions proximal to both end portions of the detection electrode in the longitudinal direction. For a width of the detection electrode in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, each peripheral portion is wider than the middle portion, and the width of the detection electrode gradually increases toward each end portion in the longitudinal direction.

Abstract: A casting apparatus includes: a mold including a first mold segment and a second mold segment; and a transfer device that is configured to transfer a core to the first mold segment and place the core in the first mold segment, and to receive and transfer a casting. The transfer device includes a support part, a robot arm, a core grasping mechanism being provided on the support part, and a casting receiving part being provided on the support part. The transfer device is configured such that the robot arm moves the core grasping mechanism so as to place the core in the first mold segment, and moves the casting receiving part so as to receive the casting by the casting receiving part.
Abstract: In an axial flow fan according to the present invention, a plurality of blades rotate about a rotation axis of the blades to convey a fluid. In the axial flow fan, the plurality of blades each have a leading edge at a leading side in a rotational direction, a trailing edge at a trailing side in the rotational direction, and an outer peripheral edge connecting the leading edge and the trailing edge. The leading edge of one of the plurality of blades and the trailing edge of another blade adjacent to the leading edge of the blade in the rotational direction are connected by a plate-shaped connection portion.
